You can't hide
IF I could convey a message to O.J., I would say: You can run but you can't hide, and you and your nightmare team are doomed to hell.
Democrats' fault
THIS IS in response to the caller under the heading "Investigate SSI," which said the caller's mother had been dropped from Social Security. From reading the article, I agree it should not have happened. The caller goes on to say that she knows a grandmother in Poplar Bluff who has never worked a day in her life and never paid into Social Security, but she's drawing Social Security, along with two sons, a wife and three out of four children. Another son and two children were on SSI. The caller must have been in the closet as a Republican, because the Republicans didn't cause this mess. The Democrats controlled Congress for 40 years. They're the ones that made this stupid legislation and these crazy regulations that let such a situation happen.
A wife beater
I HOPE that America has learned a lesson that blacks can be prejudiced and white can be prejudiced. White juries let people off for lynchings in the south 50 years ago, and black people are let off today. Let's suppose O.J. is innocent of a murder. O.J. is not a hero. Just because he could run at football, he is still a cowardly wife beater. It doesn't make any difference if you're white or black, if you're a cowardly wife beater, you are nothing. You are not a man.
Just an American
I'M TIRED of the African-American stuff. Either you was born here or you weren't. There's no African-American. They don't say Irish-American or French-American. You're either American or you're not. As far as the blacks being treated bad, the Indians were treated far worse than any blacks. There's not a race on Earth that hasn't been enslaved at one time or another. During World War II, the Jews were enslaved by the Germans. What's wrong with people nowadays? Can't they live together? Everyone should live in harmony. I think you have a good paper.
Disney's decision
I NOTICE that Walt Disney World now has become a friendly place for the gays and lesbians and people of this unnatural lifestyle. Looks like that will be one place my family won't be going, and I guarantee you I'm going to tell the whole church congregation. That's one place that has become not family oriented.
Face of racism
TUESDAY, OCT. 3, 1995, should always be remembered along with the Alamo and the Holocaust. On this day we saw the true face of racism. A double murderer was set free because of the color of his skin and the color of his money. I felt sick and helpless. But there is something we can do. If he writes a book, don't buy it. If he makes a movie, don't go see it. If he does TV, avoid the products that advertise it. Don't let him profit from the slaughter of Nicole and Ron.

Kinder's comments
I WISH I could have thanked Peter Kinder personally for his Oct. 5, 1995 NEA expose, but this forum will have to do for now. Thank you, sir. All fed-up taxpayers, especially parents with kids still in school, should clip this article out and take action with it. While you're at, add Walter Williams' Oct. 6 column to the pile. Folks, the era of apathy from silence is over. It's time to raise hell. Start pounding on the desk of educational elitists and poking you fingers in the belly buttons of the elected officials at all levels. Instead of politicians attacking and hacking away at earned -- and I emphasize earned -- benefits like Social Security, Medicare, military retirement and disability entitlements, they should eliminate taxpayer giveaways and welfare and immoral nonsense like the two NEAs, meaning the National Education Association and National Endowment of the Arts. Let's all get cracking. And thanks again, Pete. Should you choose to kick wasteful liberals like Mel out of the governor's mansion, I volunteer my assistance.
Jury questioned
IT SEEMS to me like two things happened in the O.J. Simpson case. Either the jury ignored the evidence, which I believe is what they did, or the jury didn't know what evidence is. In either case, what are people like that doing on the jury?
Mail fraud?
THE ATTORNEY general sent letters to people saying they're a winner and brought them in and arrested them for a bad check charge. To me they should be arrested. Sending it out was pure, out-and-out mail fraud. That's like a crook trying to catch another crook.
Positive Power Team
I AGREE to the schools should have let the Power Team into the schools, because a lot of public schools around the nation are doing it. Frankly, what could it hurt? My kids go to Jackson schools, and it is a great school system. I think that God is real and does exist, and I think the school would get his blessing if they allowed these people to come in and inspire these kids to do some good moral thinking and good moral behavior. What's wrong with that? Gosh, we've got all kinds of people coming into the school, a lot of Christian kids, a lot of Christian parents, and we're a Christian community. I just think we shorted ourselves. I have no affiliation with these people whatsoever, but I have seen them on TV. I know what they're about. I just think it deserves a second look. I just think if we pass up this opportunity again, then we're being foolish.
Abolish juries
SINCE THE Simpson jury set a precedent regarding justice in favor of racism and this can happen again, I say the jury system should be abolished and a panel of judges decide the guilt or innocence of future murder defendants.
Jury was right
I AM a white woman. In my job I've set through a number of trials, some murder cases. I watched most every minute of the Simpson trial on TV because I am so interested in our judicial system. The system worked. Had I been on the jury, I would have voted the same as this jury did: not guilty. There were plenty of reasonable doubts shown. I feel that sending a man to prison for life when I had any reasonable doubt would make me guilty of the same crime that the killers who slashed the victims' throats were guilty of. I would be taking a person's life. Prison can be worse than death.
Fair and rational
I WAS appalled when I read the Speak Out comments about "Getting away." I was appalled that anyone could say that black people in this country are getting away with murder. For hundreds of years, black people were murdered by white people, and white people got away by an all white jury. I think black people can fair be and rational just like white people.
