THIS IS one patron of the Meadow Heights School District who is tired of reading about the bashing that our district is taking in the Southeast Missourian. I am tired of hearing of the 302 people who signed the petition. What about the 3,000 who didn't sign it? How about the good people who are tired of those rabble-rousers trying to tear our school down? Give the positive facts. Give the facts about us sending kids to state competitions in math and band. We have a board member on Meadow Heights board that his stated position is to close this school. Investigate that. I was asked to sign the petition. I was presented with lies and untruths by the person circulating the petition. Sure, you need to report the facts, but get off Tom Waller, and leave Kay Waller alone. Tom Waller was a very strong academic man. He is innocent until proven guilty. Quit trying him and the school board in the pages of the Southeast Missourian.
WE ENJOY feeding and watching the birds in our neighborhood. There are parents who let a lot of their kids get out with their slingshots and try to kill the birds, which they sometimes succeed in doing. Yesterday it was a finch.
I'D LIKE to respond to the Speak Out comment concerning ticketing of cars in handicapped spaces that are not authorized to use them. Most of these parking lots are usually considered private property and are not routinely patrolled by police cars. This is especially the case in malls where they have their own security. If an individual who has a handicapped parking sticker parks in an area other than designated handicapped parking, actually what they are doing is tying up two spaces, one that is reserved for them and one that is not. Those people displaying handicapped stickers not parked in a handicapped area should also be ticketed for not being in an area designated and reserved especially for them. It's like abusing a privilege of having a reserved spot and not using it and infringing on the rights of those that may not be able to use those same spaces.
THE SENIOR citizens are 10 to 1 not in favor of the transportation tax.
