THIS IS in regards to Dr. Chris Jung who is concerned with the volunteer department in Gordonville Fire district. If he has a lot of concerns about this, why doesn't he volunteer with the Gordonville Fire District and help. I am a member and one of the original people who started the East County Fire Protection District. It's the guys who criticize and don't lift a finger who are the deadbeats as far as I'm concerned.
I SEE that a regional jail is under consideration. The funding and manpower cost are excessive. Have other alternatives been considered? The minimum security to house non-violent or first offenders could elevate crowding at the county jail. This type off facility could house those offenders who hold down a job by serving their days off in jail. This would give a judge another tool in sentencing someone to being in custody instead of only a fine and release. The daytime work program or counseling could be achieved and the cost of staffing could be reduced due to being a low security situation. I feel this type of facility would prevent turning hard-core offenders loose from the regular jail just to make room for new offenders and would eliminate over crowding. In some states they call this type of facility a road camp. It could be of a similar type of situation.
I WOULD like to make a comment about Greg Louganis, the diving champion. The homosexual community claims it doesn't hurt anyone else's lifestyle. Louganis has AIDS and spilled blood on the diving board and all over the water. And homosexuals claim they don't affect other people's lives? This is what affirmative action has done to the normal lifestyle.
THIS IS for the person that said there was no war declared in Vietnam. I want you to know that you know absolutely nothing about what you are talking about. You must be very young or very naive. We fight wars, then politicians decide what to call them. I am a Vietnam war veteran.
MY HUSBAND died in Vietnam. He was not a cry-baby. He was a Marine.
LATELY EVERYWHERE I see Clinton, there's Gephardt behind him. I wondered if Clinton stopped real quick how long it would take the doctors to separate Clinton and Gephardt.
PRESIDENT CLINTON had our respect by the virtue of the fact that he had assumed the office of president, but one does not keep respect simply because they maintain the title. They have to work to keep it. President Clinton no longer has earned that respect.
THIS IS a suggestion for the local community theater group. With the purchase of the St. Vincent Seminary. it would seem to me that this would be an excellent community project to renovate part of this for the community theater. It would also allow for them to practice. I would suspect that there would be rooms large enough including gymnasiums or even old chapels that would be suitable for theater productions, and it would really bring community spirit to the old St. Vincent Seminary.
I'M REALLY disappointed with Dr. Christopher Jung. Dr. Jung lives outside Cape Girardeau, yet he wants Cape Girardeau fire protection. Dr. Jung should have built in the city if he wanted city services. I don't want my city services going outside the city to take care of somebody who isn't paying a fair share. What Dr. Jung should be doing is helping his local fire district to provide better services. Those doctors certainly have the resources to do that.
