Speaker of the nation
I WANT to comment that Newt Gingrich may be the speaker of the House, but his mother is the speaker for the nation. I mean, this woman knows how to call a spade a spade. I'd just like to say a loud amen to her comments to Connie Chung about Hillary. Maybe now we're going to have a real woman that knows how to talk the truth.
Holier than thou
I'M CALLING about all these holier-than-thou people who are opposed to the strip joint. If they don't like it, they don't have to go. What business is it of theirs?
Shoot the coyotes
I'M CALLING about all these people complaining about the guy shooting the coyotes. I'm for the guy. We need to have all these coyotes run out of our town.
Don't like old drivers
I'M SICK and tired of all these old people driving out on roads. They should be taken off completely. I don't like people driving real slow, causing accidents, and holding traffic for miles on end. I don't like it. It should be stopped.
No to Power Rangers
WHO CARES about the Power Rangers? I have one younger brother and two younger sisters. My brother and one of my sisters love the Power Rangers. They are all over. You can't walk through their rooms without tripping over some power morpher or something. They are a waste of time and waste of money. Power Rangers, X-Men, Spider Man and Superman. They're all a waste of time and money. They're all the same thing. My younger sister likes Barney, the purple dinosaur. Well, I'm sorry, it's kind of cute but the Barney stuffed toy costs $14. It's too much to have it laying down on the floor with a little child screaming and kicking plus they're hazardous.
Coyotes eat garbage
BOY, SOME people are gullible about coyotes. If you kill one, hang it the fence so the rest of them will be able to find their food easier. I live in the central part of Cape about one block south of William. Last year I looked out the back door in the middle of the night to see five coyotes eating out of the neighbor's garbage. If it had been legal, I would have shot them all just like any garbage raiding cat or dog.
No plows, please
IT LOOKS like to the first big storm of the season has come and gone. I do hope that when it does snow that the snow plows please stay off the side street. Last year, we made it fine the first day. The second day the snow plow came and plowed us under and closed our driveway. It just doesn't make any sense.
A good voice
I'M CALLING in response to the caller who said Mary-Ann Maloney has an annoying voice. Mary-Ann's a very professional announcer who makes her broadcast very interesting. Her voice is clear, pleasant, fluid and uplifting. I enjoy her broadcast immensely, and I miss her when she's off. I'm sure KFVS realizes her abilities and her value to them. She's most definitely one of their most prized assets.
The paper angel
THIS IS to a special running angel who runs early on Bordeaux Drive and puts my paper up near my door during this bad weather. Whoever you are, I thank you a lot.
Whining conservatives
I THINK it's hilarious that the conservatives are whining so loudly about Connie Chung's so-called bad treatment of Newt's mom. I'm reminded of the words of one of the Missouri's more prominent people, Harry Truman: If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. If you want the glory, then there's going to be a price to pay of a lot of unfavorable publicity. But it's strange. If a conservative Republican is the brunt of the something unflattering, it's the sleazy tactics of the news media. But when it's the liberal Democrat who is the brunt of this same tactic, it's the news media telling the gospel truth. Frankly, the Clinton's have handled this latest incident in such a class act way, they are only improving their image. But the Gingrich hillbillies from Georgia have no class at all.
Thanks to paper carrier
I AM calling to say thanks to the paper carrier who delivers on Mill Street and puts ours where we can get it.
Postal cry babies
THIS IS to all the cry babies and complainers about the postage-stamp increase. If you don't like the price in the U.S., why don't you move to Japan or Germany or some other foreign country and pay their rates of 60 to 80 cents or more for a stamp? You, that do the most complaining, probably buy the least amount of stamps. You probably don't complain when groceries, gas, cigarettes and booze go up so my suggestion is stop complaining or relocate. I for one, thinks the Postal Service does a great job.
Protect Social Security
I WOULD like to discuss Social Security. 1. I am a recipient. 2. Yes, I have paid Social Security since I was 16. 3. No, I'm not a disabled Social Security recipient. Now to all of you who disagree with those who have paid and now receive Social Security, please look to other entitlements. John Danforth, who has been against Social Security, has started his pension totally at taxpayers' expense. I use this as an example, and it goes down the hill to the lowest bureaucrat. If you would just examine these pension plans of judges, congressmen and all others are the results of lawyers at the taxpayers expense. None require contributions of the receivers. Please get off the Social Security receivers backs.
Eastlick commended
I'D LIKE to commend Jay Eastlick for his column in the Saturday issue of the Southeast Missourian. It's well thought out and is very true. I think Connie Chung and CBS should banned from doing interviews and Connie Chung should be banned from television.
Thankful for helpers
I WOULD like to thank God for all of the wonderful people that work with and gave to the Salvation Army and the all the other clubs and organizations to help give the needy with food baskets, toys and clothes for Christmas. A special thank you to the craftsman union for the nice basket you delivered to my invalid mother. And to the Salvation Army for the food baskets and toys they gave to other members of my friends and members of my family. May God continue to bless all of you is my prayer in 1995. Please keep up the good work. God bless you.
