YOU'RE RIGHT. Play Day is for the kids. Can you explain to me how spending two hours in the postal processing center and one and a half hours on the bus is fun? Lets have the kids take a vote. I think they would much rather stay at school outside and use the concession stand, the same way everyone else has for the past 30 years. Sounds like a lot of fun at Chaffee Play Day.
HELP! WOULD someone please help me convince a know-it-all that you do not shave the ground when you mow the yard. What is the right height to mow grass? Would someone please respond. Thank you.
HOW CAN anyone tolerate that Jenny Jones program? It is the worst x-rated program on TV. Thank you.
IT'S TOUGH being a sports fan in Cape Girardeau. How do we get KPLR-TV back in Cape Girardeau?
WE HEAR a lot in the media about first amendment rights, and about the free press, about book burning and censorship, always with comparisons to Hitler and Nazism. Seems to me there is a lot less emphasis placed on our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Our founding fathers felt this was as important as the press for us to maintain our freedom at that time, and it is true today. We are always hearing about this or that incident where someone is shot, and I'm sure that there are as many more people killed or maimed by irresponsible people with automobiles than with guns, but there's no big push to take away our private transportation. I don't think the NRA should have to give back one dime of the money they have gotten while exercising their constitutional rights to print what they see fit. I say if the jack boot fits, wear it.
I WOULD like to comment about the President saying that the NRA should give money from their fund-raiser to the victims of Oklahoma. That might be a good idea, but what about him in Waco. He gave the orders to put the gas in there. Why don't he give a donation and put a special prosecutor in charge? They swept it under the table last time. Have somebody that will really prosecute. Janet Reno has already claimed that she is responsible, she accepted the responsibility, but she is not in jail. Kids and pregnant women have been killed. I just think it's funny that somebody here is throwing stones when they live in a glass house. He ought to admit his guilt. He's the one who gave the orders to put the gas in there on the pregnant women and children, because it took presidential authority. It took his OK, and that's who Janet Reno got the OK from, so why don't he come clean? Thank you.
I GOT a comment for the city officials. Do you care what goes on in the south part of town? You all say you want a transportation tax, but it wouldn't be used for what the people of Cape wanted from it. We've got drug deals, we've got people moving out because of crime. People do not care anymore. There's no justice at all. I do know of one man that has more vehicles on the same street, some of them set for months and months. People won't fix their houses up. We have a Godless generation. Is the south part of Cape going to be another Smelterville? We have no officers to enforce the laws that are on the existing books. If my family and myself haven't spent a lot of money, we would have moved out of Cape by now.
IT SEEMS obvious now that our new mayor and the majority of the city council have never had to live from paycheck to paycheck. Please no more new taxes.
I'D LIKE to make a comment about the money that is being wasted by some of the city personnel just riding around in trucks and cars and looking around at certain things. I was under the impression that the Sheriff's Department, the Police Department and the Corps of Engineers were watching all of the levees and the bad spots and so forth. Why do they need at least six, eight or 10 men riding around in trucks doing nothing whenever these other agencies are the ones who are doing that? It seems to me that it is just a waste of the taxpayers' money. Thank you.
