A FEW words about the recent Chaffee city election. The reason Bob Capshaw is a gracious loser is because he is a big winner in life. He has done more for Chaffee than any person in the history of Chaffee. What a wonderful man.
I'D JUST like to say that I'm happy to hear that Carol Keeler is moving to St. Louis. She's done enough to try to stir up racial unrest in this conservative town. I hope she will feel more comfortable and more at home in St. Louis.
AFTER READING Miss Gaylor's letter to the people this morning, I think it should be pointed out that the cross was not placed on public property originally, but when the highway was widened, it became highway property. They were going to move it at that time, but the public did not want it moved. There was a lot of objection to it so they left it where it is. That is why it is on highway property at this time.
THE OLD Cape school board sure is against community input. They're such an excellent group of people.
KATHY SWAN should be impeached. Her outrageous comments printed in Tuesday's Missourian go against everything that has been said by the school board about trying to reestablish credibility in the community. If she feels this way about two members of the board who chose to let people know what's going on behind doors, how can we have any confidence the board will work together to establish this so called credibility? I am outraged. Let's have a recall vote.
I'D LIKE to say something about Kathy Swan's remarks about Dr. Bob Fox. As best as I can see, she was elected to that school board by citizens to represent the taxpaying citizens of Cape Girardeau. Dr. Fox was also elected for the same position. As taxpaying citizens, we do have the right to know what is going on. Dr. Fox did nothing wrong. Kathy Swan, I feel like maybe you just opened your mouth a little bit too early, too loud and too much. Be respective about other board members, and maybe do us all a favor and just resign.
MY COMMENT is about Kathy Swan. She so graciously pointed out that Bob Fox's wife was a school teacher. What does her husband do for a living now? Am I mistaken? Does school tax dollars put any money into his pocket?
AFTER A 40 year assault on our religious faith in public schools and institutions the liberal predators have given our nation the following: America leads the world in the use of illegal drugs. America leads the world in pregnancies among unwed teen-agers. America leads the world in abortion. America leads the world in violent crime. America leads the world in the percentage of the population incarcerated in prisons. America leads the world in divorce. With 30 million problem drinkers, America is second only to France in the percentage of alcoholism. In reading skills American students fall behind students of every other developed nation. We never could have said this about the last generation some 35 to 40 years ago. This is what the anti-religious groups, the socialists and the people who are anti-God in the United States and anti-Constitution have done to us in just one generation.
I WOULD think having a wife that was a teacher in the school system would be an advantage to a school board member.
DOES KATHY Swan think that attacking two board members for expressing their views is going to intimidate them into silence? I certainly hope not. Maybe we need to know more of what goes on at those meetings.
AS I reviewed the results of the recent Cape school board election, two things became very apparent. First, by not seeking re-election, Thompson and Davis made it unnecessary for the majority of voters to go to the polls. Second, they both received the same number of votes as they would have if they were on the ballot. Zero.
I READ Bob Fox's letter. If you haven't, you should. Three cheers for one board member who has the courage to speak out. Kathy Swan should write an apology to Dr. Fox. She has no right to talk about conflict of interest concerning any other board member especially after the latest busines her company pulled off with the school district. Mrs. Swan, do you think we, the community, are stupid? As usual, you are trying to mislead the public with your false information. How dare you attack another board member for not agreeing with you. Dr. Fox, I totally agree with your professionalism and there are a lot of other teachers that back you. Keep up the great work.
