THE CITY of Jackson better do something about the middle school out on B Highway. Someone's going to get killed out there the way those women park those cars on the sides of the road. School danger

THE CITY of Jackson better do something about the middle school out on B Highway. Someone's going to get killed out there the way those women park those cars on the sides of the road. They stop, and traffic's tied up from Broadridge on down. Someone's going to be hurt. They better change their delivery and pickup policy.

It's a circus

THE MOST hilarious comedy I've seen in ages was the three-ring circus on TV of the Republican debate. I rolled on the floor watching these clowns call each other names.

Save the park

NOT TOO long ago the county bought land for a park. Now the commissioners are trying to give away part of Klaus Park. I don't understand this. Why would they want to give away any part of our park because Jackson and Cape are going to converge out there? If Mitch Robertson is so anxious to offer them free land for that home, let him come up with it himself.

Squawking

WHEN I received the Southeast Missourian which includes a copy of the Jackson High School paper, the Squawler, I was appalled at some of the comments made by the staff of the Squawler. The school board, administration, teachers and staff need to remember the Democrats pay taxes to support that school as well as Republicans. Perhaps the young man who wrote the stinging editorial would like to have been born a British subject. Had it not been for those raving liberals, maybe no one would have signed the Declaration of Independence.

Rough language

I AM concerned about the language that is going on in our public schools. Have you ever really listened to their language? My gosh, there is all kinds of really bad things being said, and I think we should have a stricter law on those kinds of things in the public schools.

Old schools

I'M CURIOUS as to why people in Cape Girardeau do not believe that we need to replace the Louis J. Schultz school building or the May Greene school building. Over the past few years, several votes have come up, and they've always been defeated. The public seems to believe that all they need is renovations. I noticed in the "Out of the Past" column that those buildings were being worked on way back in 1921. I think it's time to replace buildings that are over 75 years old and still crumbling.

Marriage pact

I HAVE a pre-nuptial agreement in my marriage too. I made it with my wife and God. I promised to love, honor and cherish, in sickness and health, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer. And I did it all without the benefit of an attorney present.

Meadow Heights

I AM a teacher at Meadow Heights High School and am appalled at the firing of Principal Rick Chastain. Mr. Chastain is a wonderful principal who is an asset to the district. Mr. Chastain went to the board with his findings of illegality in attendance reports, and the board president then believed in firing our principal. We teachers try to instill qualities such as honesty and integrity in our students. It seems our school board president and three other members feel that these are worthless traits. Perhaps your recent article and your editorial praising Meadow Heights were a bit premature. Hang in there, Rick, we really care about you, and we want you to stay at Meadow Heights.

Understanding wife

I'M HAPPY that Jay Eastlick has a spouse, because I think he probably found the only woman in the world who would put up with his blatant chauvinistic immaturity.

Love turmoil?

WHAT IS it with this Meadow Heights bunch? Do they love turmoil? Is this the Hatfields and McCoys? Do they like conflict all the time? Or do they just prefer to be on the front page of the Missourian all the time with their battles?

Three strikes

THIS IS in response to the three board members at Meadow Heights who decided to fire Mr. Chastain. This is also to the two wimps who could have saved his job. Several years ago, I talked to Mr. Chastain about a teaching position at Meadow Heights. I found him to be a man that puts the kids and school ahead of everything else. I did not get the job but have talked to Mr. Chastain several times since and find him to be a very honest and sincere person. I think he would be an asset to any school district wanting to hire him. I would just like to say, hang in there. As far as Meadow Heights goes, maybe the state of Missouri should do your school district like professional teams do their athletes. Any athlete tested positive to drugs three times is out. Over the years, your school boards have accumulated three strikes because of their bad judgment. Maybe your school district needs to be disbanded for the lack of good judgment and fairness to run it properly. What you have done is just another black mark against your district.
