AFTER LISTENING to the commentaries on the networks after the Clinton speech, I finally figured out what their initials stand for. CBS is Clinton Broadcasting System, ABC is All Bill Clinton, and NBC is Nothing But Clinton.
Betting on Lady Luck
HOW CAN people complain about the riverboat that's going to, and I repeat, going to come to the Diversion Channel? The boat won't hurt any fishing. I mean, just look at all the fish that flop around the boat in Metropolis. It can't be an eyesore, just look at the pretty lights. Hey, just pretend it's Christmas on the river. My advice to you is, if you don't want to play with the big kids, get out of the way before you find Lady Luck up your, well, you figure it out.
Republican bad boys
IS IT true there's an organization called The Republican Boy Scouts that push senior citizens in front of on-rushing cars while pretending to help them cross the street? Just wondering.
Act of kindness
I JUST want to thank the person that found my daughter's check in JCPenney during the Christmas holiday and turned it in. I want to thank you again, because it's good to know there are some decent, honest people out there. It gives you a little faith in humanity.
Lawn mowers in winter?
I'M JUST wondering why the people in Speak Out are talking about lawn mowers in the middle of winter. Why don't they wait until the summertime if they're bothered by lawn mowers. Out in my neighborhood, no one is mowing their yards at this time of year.

More on license plates
I WATCHED the flap over Missouri's new license plate with some degree of humor and disgust, so I might as well chime in too, at least about putting a mule on the plate. I'm surprised no one has suggested a political conspiracy by Mel Carnahan and his liberal clones in Jeff City regarding this mule. Think about how non-Missourians would interpret a mule on our license plate. Would they really be able to tell the difference between a mule and a donkey? Probably not, and they would assume that Missouri is totally inhabited by extremist liberal Democrats and they'd further assume we're all a bunch of tax-and-spend socialists. I don't know about the rest of you folks, but I don't want to be forced to drive around with that kind of an insult on my car. Think about it.
All are animals
REGARDING THE comments in Friday, Jan. 26 Speak Out column "Dog and babies and the worst animal" there is a very strong connection between animal abuse and spouse and child abuse. If one type of abuse is occurring in the home, chances are everyone is experiencing abuse in that home. We are all animals, it's just that those of us with a voice should speak up for those who do not. Abuse should never be accepted on any level.
Promoting homosexuality
DID YOU catch Oprah on Friday promoting a illegal activity? Homosexuality is against the law in the state of Missouri. It's sick.
Question for Owen
I WOULD like to say thank you to Ray Owen. You really do care about your community. You're the only one who keeps up to date on the Gaming Commission and Boyd Gaming. Can you also tell us what it is holding up on the city council signing the contract, and why is the Gaming Commission watching south of St. Louis so close, issuing the gaming permits but only around the St. Louis area? I wish you could answer these questions.
Documents planted?
Concerning the documents they're making such a big deal about. They probably were in the control of Republicans all the time and then planted in the White House to make Mrs. Clinton look bad. Remember, the Republicans broke into a place and stole papers during the Watergate so why wouldn't they do the same thing again. Also, after Nixon resigned to keep from being impeached, he was pardoned by his successor so he wouldn't have to appear in court. Why couldn't President Clinton pardon Mrs. Clinton? I'm sure he has the power. But no, they are willing to see it through.
