I JUST read the story in your paper where a deputy sheriff was killed in Cassville responding to a call. He was shot dead in the head. It just made me think how fortunate we are with our local law enforcement officers who are willing to do the job that they do when they are so underpaid by the city of Cape Girardeau and the county of Cape Girardeau.
SCOTT MOYERS should be commended for his sensitive writing on the issue of burglaries targeting the elderly in Cape Girardeau. Not many people have taken the time to really think how frightened these people must be, and it's good to know that their concerns are at least being aired in the paper and not just their own neighborhoods, to their friends and families, people they know around them. Thank you very much for helping to make people know that these are real human beings and not just a story in the news.
I THINK KFVS-TV Channel 12 (Channel 7 on the TCI cable system) is one of the best stations on our list that we receive from cable television here. "M*A*S*H," especially, is good. That to me is the best 30-minute show that's ever presented on television, and I watch it every time it's on and I go on watching it because it is an outstanding show. It has everything that a 30-minute program should have. I do hope that you do keep it on.
I'M A resident of Jackson, and I'm wondering why, after over a year after that major drug bust, I still see the two suspects walking the streets. In fact, my uncle saw one last Sunday in St. Louis at a Rams football game. Is there no justice? If it was a parking violation, they would have been taken care of a year ago, but they're still walking the streets. It's an outrage.
I JUST wanted to say our family got rid of cable TV four years ago. First, because it seemed like every month they were raising the price, and for what we were getting it wasn't worth it. We got an antenna, and then we decided to get a satellite. Our picture is the best we've ever had at any time. We have not problems when it's storming or raining. When we want KFVS station, we push a couple of buttons, and there it is. On cable, you're paying for KFVS when that should be free. I guess all I'm saying is why let TCI threaten you with taking our KFVS station from us? After all, we had KFVS first, and they've been with us a long time. So maybe there's more ways to skin a cat than one. Thank you for letting me air what I think, and thanks for all the good programs we're getting from KFVS now.
WOULD PETER Kinder please enroll himself as a full-time junior or senior in Cape Central, Notre Dame or Jackson High School for a semester of college-bound student subjects? Only then will he be knowledgeable enough to talk about educrats. Peter, you're older than you think. Poor, uninformed critic.
I'D LIKE to make a statement about Jesse Jackson. Every time I turn a TV on, I see him, and every time I pick up a paper or article, he's been all over the world and every country. Since he's never had a real job, I'd like to know who supports him.
