PRESIDENT CLINTON, I hope to God you win, Clinton. We need you in there bad. I saw you on TV, and you've been a good president. Please, everybody, vote for Clinton.
I WOULD just like to tell Cape Girardeau's school superintendent, Dan Tallent, that you can fool some of the people some of the time. Even though he says that the tax grab is a different plan, it isn't. A tax hike is a tax hike is a tax hike. Where are we, the voters, supposed to get the money? Maybe they should learn to do with what they've got.
BOB DOLE, you're like a coin in your pocket. You're two-faced. First you say you're for education, and then you turn around and say you're against it. Which are you, a head or a tail? In my boat, you show more of your tail than your head. You should stick to one thing and say it, not go back on it and say something else. Bob Dole, you're unpredictable. You never are the same day to day.
TO THE person who called in and said God blesses our nation despite abortion and criticizes people for praying at the crosses: When a girl finds herself in an unwanted pregnancy and is overwhelmed with it, if you think having an abortion is going to bring her life back to normal, back to the way it was before the pregnancy, you are wrong. It never will. No matter if she decides to abort the baby or give it birth, her life is changed forever. Abortion is violence to a woman and her unborn child. This brings guilt, grief and pain. What she has to do is make choices that include what is best for both of them. She needs our love, support and prayers. There are numerous crisis pregnancy care centers across the country waiting to give that support. Praying at the crosses is an extension of the help people are trying to give. Maybe those prayers are giving us the mercy from God. It is sad when the most dangerous residence for a child in our country today is the womb.
EVIDENTLY THERE is more than one thief out there taking signs from people's yards. The one who took mine sure wasn't a Democrat.
I JUST read in the paper this past week where the National Tax Association says that a family of four now pays 50.4 percent of its income in taxes. Just think, federal, state, local, sales taxes, personal property, real estate tax, gas tax, airline ticket tax, sewer tax -- and there are a lot of taxes we don't even know about that we're paying. I will take Dole's 15 percent tax cut, and I tell you it can be done in part by cutting some of the people out in Washington, D.C., or government employees. Don't misunderstand. I think there are a lot of good government employees. I knew of one in the Federal Aviation Administration who was like the Maytag repairman. He did very little and now has a good pension and doesn't work too hard anymore. Thomas Jefferson once said, "When everyone learns to get into the United States treasury for a check, the country will not last." When half the people in the country get a government check, they are not about to vote against President Clinton. I receive a Social Security check, and I'm one of them, but I do believe that we should do something about the taxes. I'm afraid that Social Security is going to have be looked at and Medicare.
AS SOON as the federal minimum-wage hike went into effect, my single-dip ice cream cone rose from 60 cents each to 80 cents. If Proposition A passes, I'm sure my ice cream cone will go up that much again, at least that much more.
IT'S EASY to understand why the Macarena is the dance of choice at socialist Democrat political rallies. This so-called dance is the most dumbed down, non-creative nonsense I've ever seen. That's why our current socialist dictatorial administration loves it. It simply requires unthinking morons to fall in line and feel themselves up in unison with everyone else. Either that, or the socialist dance lines are all swatting at flies together. But that's what liberal socialists expect -- no, demand. Everyone must think, act and look exactly alike. Kind of reminds of the Hitler youth of Nazi Germany. Or more frightening, watching thousands troops two-stepping pass the Arch de Triumph in Paris. Ah, yes, the Macarena represents a repeat of history. Heil, Hillary.
THIS IS to the senior citizen who says the Democrat scare tactic concerning Social Security and Medicare doesn't bother him or her because Democrats are on the side of seniors. Apparently you have noticed, but the Democrats who have been in power the last couple of decades aren't your Roosevelts, Trumans, or Kennedys. The reason Social Security and Medicare are in trouble today is because of this present batch of Democrats. You belong to a small but vocal minority of retirees that I call the selfish seniors. You continually squeal that you paid Social Security taxes and now deserve to draw but completely ignore the fact that the average retiree withdraws everything they ever put in Social Security in three years. Even though the younger workers pay your Social Security check after three years, you couldn't care less whether they will be able to draw when they retire. At least the Republicans have a plan to save the system. The Democrats have no plan, zilch, zero. And if Social Security and Medicare go belly up because of inaction by the Democrats, guess who will squeal the loudest: you selfish seniors. Selfish is selfish whether you're 5 or 95. Thank God most seniors aren't like you.
THE PRESIDENT and his cabinet should be a role model for the young people in America. Instead there are sex scandals, lies, drugs, suicide, dishonesty and no thought for life shown by the veto on partial-birth abortions. How can young people in this country have anything to look forward to with that kind of leadership? It is no wonder the young people are involved in freedom of sex, drugs, disrespect and even suicide. They don't have much to look forward to when the White House has done it all. I think we had better wake up before it is too late. We had better vote for a change this election.
THE GUY with the 11-point plan for the future needs to get in the 12-step program for the president.
I READ with a great deal of interest the letter from the farmer in Mississippi County. Let me tell you, I know a thing or two about that county myself, and I will assure there are many more poor people there who need some decent health care than there are well-to-do farmers who need a handout from the government.
THIS IS about the call that was in Speak Out about the whining pervert. I'd like to say this person is seriously out of touch with financial reality. If the law forced employers to pay servers at least minimum wage, menu prices would almost double, which would probably make that person whine because he could not afford to eat out anymore. As it is now, they restaurants only required to pay $2.13, which is less than half of the minimum wage to servers. The rest is made up in tips. Whether you leave a tip or not, servers are required by law to pay 10 percent of the total of the ticket in income tax. How would you like to be forced to pay 10 percent of your employer's sales in your income tax? All consumers are responsible for employees' wages by their patronization of businesses. If you weren't, you wouldn't eat or purchase anything. If you don't want to leave a tip, don't waste your server's time and tax money. Go to a fast-food drive through where you won't have to whine about leaving a tip in exchange of services rendered and lower menu prices.
I REALIZE our schools need to be improved and updated, but why do the property owners have to pay for it?
I WOULD just like to say that I don't understand how the government and the news people too can have two sets of standards for the Republicans and the Democrats. If Dole or Bush either one had done just one of the things that Clinton has done and got away with, they would have done tarred and feathered him and impeached him out of office a long time ago. But Clinton can do whatever, and the American people seem to just love him. So I hope when he gets back in this next four years, which he's going to, I hope that all these people get what they deserve.
THE DEMOCRATS are saying Kelly will ruin Missouri into disaster if elected. Doesn't make sense. She has the job of taking care of Missouri's budget as certified accountant in her present job. The governor depends on her work. Why would we as voters think a CPA who controls the balance of Missouri will now be out of control if we elected her? Sorry, I like a CPA over any jackleg anytime.
