National Guard limited

I'M CALLING about the comment about the National Guard building roads in Panama instead of working in the community like over in Illinois in the Gale area. One reason that doesn't happen is because the unions won't let the National Guard work on civilian projects. The people in the Guard would a lot better spend their weekend drills out in the community actually doing something and using their equipment than sitting in the Armory just trying to do busy work to keep busy. But it's not the Guard members who don't want to do this local public type work.

Vote on gambling again

IN REGARD to the person who wrote about the April edition of the Reader's Digest on gambling, I think the same way you do. When we voted on having gambling here, it was with the understanding that it would be done on a cruise ship. Now they are talking about it being land-based. In that case, I think you should get a petition started to have the people vote on a land-based gambling. I will help on the petition.

Pilot was too young

JESSICA DUBROFF, 7-year-old pilot, youngest cross-country pilot and the deadest. A great father-daughter adventure, huh? How wise was it for a 7-year-old to try to fly into the history books anyway? Just another example of a kid who's parents can't or won't say no.

She wasn't old enough

I THINK the mother of the child airplane pilot should be jailed for child abuse and the children at home should be taken from her. She's letting her kids do what ever they want with no supervision. How's a child not long out of kindergarten old enough to make her own decisions? I'm glad there's nothing like that happens around here.

Partial-birth abortions

I WANT to comment on this ban on the partial birth-deliveries that Clinton has now OKs. The ban would have barred them, but because he vetoed them it means you can still get them. This is a procedure where the baby comes out except the top of its head, then the doctor puts a pair of shears up, cuts into the brain and sucks the brain out. Wouldn't it be safer for the woman to go on and deliver the child and then cut its head off or crush its head or cut its throat? And you wouldn't have to do it right then, you could wait a week or two or a year. What I'm saying is it would only take a split second to continue the delivery. I mean, this isn't helping the woman, because it takes sometimes 10 minutes to crush the head and punch the head in the back of the skull and suck the brain out. It would only take a minute more. It can't be done for the safety of the woman because it's safer to continue it. It's trimester abortion, that's what it is. It's legalizing trimester abortion. This is what our country has come to. I just think it's a phony issue to say that it's for the health of the woman.

It was parents' dream

I'VE GOT news for the media and for the entire world. It was not a little 7-year-old girl's dream to fly across country. It was her daddy's dream and her mama's dream that something spectacular would happen to their little girl. Well, it did. Her dad may as well have put a gun to that child's head. He and the mama are the responsible ones. That's all I have to say, but I'm irate about these parents who try to make names for themselves and try to boost their own egos through their children. I've seen it happen too many times in beauty pageants.

ALL YOU yellow-dog Democrats can sit back now and hang on to your billfolds. Soaring fuel prices will take every dime you've got to get to work. Oh, Clinton now has OKed abortion from conception to delivery. The next thing he'll do is allow them to knock them in the head or stab after they're born. Same-sex marriages. If we're not at Sodom and Gomorrah, we're not far from it. I was told this would happen by an old, old person who lived in Arkansas, who warned me that it'd take God to help us if this fellow ever got in office. I see what he meant now.

Biblical warning

HISTORY REPEATS itself with morals. The two women who got married in Carbondale. OK, what happened to the Roman society? What was the downfall of the Roman society? Immoral acts. Why did God destroy Sodom and Gomorrah? Immoral acts. So history will probably repeat itself. Of course, they don't read Leviticus 20, so they probably won't know. All you have to do is go up to the girls and read Leviticus 20 to them, the whole chapter, and then they will be exposed to the chapter and then they will know.
