IN REGARDS to Tina Trickey's letter on separation of school and church in the New Hamburg School, she might need to check her facts about how the school is run and that there is complete separation of church and school. The children are not excused on holy days and every Wednesday morning. Yes, we do have a youth Mass, but it begins at 7:15 a.m. and the children are at school in plenty of time for the first bell. She needs to check her facts and not rely on people's ugly comments about our school district. We have a very fine school.
I DON'T think whoever did the report on Tim McGraw was very good. Need to get somebody who likes country music rather than some moron.
WILL THE right-wing, anti-labor Republican who jumped all over my statement about the mathematics test in the state at least get some of his facts straight. He's talking about these Democrat-controlled states, and Massachusetts has a Republican governor, New York state has a Republican governor and there is a Republican mayor of the city of New York. Get that part of it straight. As far as the grades go, even with the slum areas that these cities have, New York City and Boston, and Detroit and Chicago, the northern states still have a much higher average than the southern states. There's something wrong. And as far as you're jumping up and down about Washington, D.C., everybody knows it's bad, it's a slum. If Washington, D.C., was tied in with Virginia, it would still have a higher average than any other state in South. So, get with it, man. Don't be so silly. The problem is that the kids aren't learning, and they're just trying to hide it by being anti-labor and anti-union. Get with it. You need something more than a regressive attitude to get the things changed.
WELL, I see where the citizens that pay taxes in Cape Girardeau are really getting taken again. That old white elephant down on Main and Broadway is a big white elephant.
