WHEN IS all the litter going to be picked up from the fair parade? It looks a mess.
IN 1981, the national debt was less than $1 trillion but the interest payment was $95.6 billion. In 1993, the national debt was up to $4.41 trillion, and the interest payment on the national debt was $292.5 billion. In other words, the Reagan-Bush fiasco cost $196.9 billion on the interest every year. Any fool or phony who wants to cut taxes before paying down the debt is playing on the fiscal ignorance of the people. My grandkids will be suffering from this irresponsibility and foolishness. We must pay down the national debt so that we are not spending over $300 billion for interest on the debt every year as we are now. We have had an era of complete financial irresponsibility, and we either will pay the debt down or we'll wind up in a mess like Russia.
I'VE BEEN watching for the fair results in the paper. They are usually published each year. Did I miss them?
REPLY: Results of various fair contests were in the Sept. 19 edition of the Southeast Missourian.
MY HUSBAND and I attended a Neighborhood Watch program over two months ago. We were told signs would be put up in our neighborhood as soon as possible. Those signs have not yet been put up. Could someone please look into this and see how long it takes to have the Neighborhood Watch signs put up?
I WOULD just like to say thank you to the man who helped me push my car to the side at the Cape Rock and Kingshighway intersection. It was greatly appreciated.
MOST PEOPLE who have any morals would not want this scumbag to lead their party, much less their nation. The liberal Democrats and excuse makers don't want Clinton to step down. They have someone to worship, and they deserve each other. Neither has any morals. Of course, they wish he hadn't got caught.
BRAVO, BILL Coomer. You express my feelings perfectly.
I HAVE a hard time understanding why someone would be so upset about beer drinkers at the Willie Nelson concert when the performer himself is always so stoned out on marijuana that he can hardly stand up. You would think that the stench of burning marijuana behind the stage would be enough to make any beer drinker nauseous enough to throw up.
SOME CRITICS are griping about the $40 million consumed in the Starr investigation. Fact is, the cost of the Starr research of four years and six months was $34.1 million. Are these people belly aching over the cost of the Contra investigation of six years and eight months which reached the total of $47.9 million? Are they beeping over President Clinton's expedition to China which required $40 million?
