Don't spend my money on sex scandals
I CERTAINLY don't approve of what the president is accused of doing. I don't know whether he's right or wrong or whether he has or not done wrong. I do resent the federal government taking money to check into his personal and private life, his sex life. Spending the taxpayers' money for this is about a big a waste of anything I've seen in my lifetime. I don't approve of what he's accused of.
Mrs. Clinton is right about conspiracy
I CANNOT stand Mrs. Clinton. However, for once, I agree with her. There is a conspiracy going on with Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, the Christian Coalition and other Christian movements to undermine her husband. If you watch television long enough, you can see it for yourself.
No peace in the Clinton household
I REMEMBER being upset when Martin Luther King won the Nobel Peace Prize, but I just learned that Bill Clinton has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life. He doesn't even have peace within his own household.
Swingle should seek judge's position
THIS WILL not be the first time that Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle had something to say about some judge's sentence. If Morley doesn't like the job John Grimm's doing, he needs to run for the position. Then that way he can let the child molesters and the sex offenders go then lock up all the other hardened criminals.
Gaming official full of beans
SOME BIGWIG with the Missouri Gaming Commission recently wrote a letter accusing the Southeast Missourian of telling falsehoods in its articles and editorials pertaining to gambling. I think the guy is full of beans, but I would never say so to his face because his letter's length reminded me of the Unabomber's manifesto.
Teen Challenge is tougher than prison
WELL ISN'T it rather amazing that Morley Swingle spoke before he knew what he was talking about. I can't believe that he could compare Teen Challenge to prison. Teen Challenge is probably a lot harder than prison. Not only do the boys come out God-motivated, but they work and they work hard. At least prison, you can get cereal because you can afford milk for your breakfast. Teen Challenge doesn't. They depend a lot on donations, and most of those donations they work hard for. Maybe somebody could suggest Swingle find out what he's criticizing before he opens his big mouth again on the front page.
THERE ARE higher achievements in life than being the self-designated poet laureate of Speak Out, but doggone it, I'm proud of it. Here is a four-line ditty:
Starting next year at Cape Central,
They'll all take a final test.
When I made a D-minus on one,
I was proud I had done my best.
Look at what right-wingers believe
I DON'T blame Hillary for going after those right-wing conservatives who are trying to get her husband, all the frightful things they believe in. They even believe in God. They believe in home and family as being a very important part of our lives. They believe in right and wrong. They expect our public servants to be people of integrity. They believe that no one is above the law, not even the president. They believe that morality is important. They even believe that it's wrong to kill unborn babies. So I think she's right on target, going after those terrible people.
Dumb and dumber in the White House
I TELL you what. The Clintons are a laugh a minute these days. I used to respect Hillary, but I've come to a conclusion: He's dumb, and now she's dumber.
Thanks for finding glass case
A BIG thanks to the person who found my silver glass case on the parking lot of Country Mart in Jackson. God bless you.
We need to get back to morality
I WANT to comment about the people who say that the president's private life shouldn't matter. Yes, it should. The president should be, as they used to say about Caesar's and Caesar's wife, above suspicion. There are people in this country who think morality and decency still have a place. These people who are saying it doesn't, I don't know what kind of life you've got. Maybe you guys in your marriages accept infidelity, and maybe that's why we have so many divorces in this country. But there are people who know the difference between morality and immorality. Certain people have got their morals all messed up in this country. But the rest of us really do know the difference between when a man and woman's married and they're having marital relations and when a man's having them with a single woman. It's wrong for a married man to be messing around with a single woman. I don't care how much convenient morality and this free-love atmosphere that people went through back in the '60s. It stuck on a lot of people, and it's still wrong. We need to get back to the straight and narrow on our morals. That's what's wrong with our country. What are we teaching our children if we accept somebody doing something like this, how can we tell them not to do it? Remember, you teach by example.
Judge, jury and executioner
WHAT IS with our prosecuting attorney's office? First, they blast our juries. Now, they're blasting our judges. Do they want to be judge, jury and executioner?
County resident doesn't want annexation
I'VE BEEN hearing that Cape has been wanting to annex north of the city limits. I just want to tell them I live out there, and I do not want to live in the city limits.
Lots more billboards since 1929
I THINK that I shall never see a billboard as lovely as a tree. Indeed, unless the billboards fall, I'll never see a tree at all. That was penned by Ogden Nash in 1929. Just imagine what he would feel like if he would see this proliferation today.
