REGARDING THE criticism of the Democratic Christmas display, the caller should know the blessed Virgin, wife of a working-class carpenter, did not ride an elephant into Bethlehem.
TO THE person who felt the Cape County Democrats should not have a display which celebrates the birth of Christ: Christ wants us to be compassionate and loving to all people, not to be filled with malice and hatred. The Bible says in I Corinthians 13: "For I speak with the tongues of men and angels and have not lost, I am become as a sounding brass or a tinkling symbol. And though I have all faith so that I could remove mountains and have not lost, I am nothing." I hope the hatred in your heart will be replaced with understanding at this Christmas season.
I READ that some people are wanting to designate a scenic road through Crowley's Ridge. I think it's odd that someone is always trying to make money at someone else's expense. I live on Route E in Scott County, and I don't want the government telling me how to use my land.
CBS RAN a news feature suggesting that global warming will cause sea levels to rise, thus flooding places like New York City and south Florida in the distant future. What the major media and people like Alan Journet will never tell you is that sea levels have fluctuated throughout geologic time due to climatic changes. In fact, our own area was once covered by the sea many millions of years ago, as evidenced by all of the limestone in our region. Limestone is formed by oceanic organisms. It is generally accepted that the dinosaurs died out due to climatic changes. Have Dan Rather or Journet ever mentioned this? These people want to blame climatic changes on man but are hard-pressed to explain the climatic changes that occurred before man ever existed. Global warming is no more than a scare tactic by liberals designed to give government more control over our lives and an excuse to tax anything they deem harmful to the climate.
