IT'S TIME for the Southeast Missourian to start telling us what exactly happened with the espionage from China. There's some really bad stuff in that. There must be. Otherwise we wouldn't be bombing a country day after day. When the other problems came up, the Clintons just bombed the country for one day. This China thing must be really bad...

IT'S TIME for the Southeast Missourian to start telling us what exactly happened with the espionage from China. There's some really bad stuff in that. There must be. More on messy community

THIS IS a follow-up on the condition of Oak Ridge. I will agree with the writer that it needs a lot of help. I went to Oak Ridge School and was proud of the nice, clean, little town. Now when I take my grandkids up there to see where I went to school, it is a disgrace. It really does need help.

Short on common sense

BILL CLINTON may be long on book learning, but he's way short on common sense as we have evidenced for these past six years.

You should know the answer

TO THE person who recently asked in Speak Out if a husband says something and his wife is not there to hear it, is he still wrong? I would like to reply. Sir, you have either not been married very long or very often, or you would know the answer to that question.

He might do it anyway

MR. CLINTON has told us he has no intention committing ground troops to the Yugoslavian conflict. However, please remember this is the same Mr. Clinton who lied under oath.

Fraudulent telephone call

SENIOR CITIZENS, be aware. I had a call today from a lady claiming she was from one of the banks and said I could get two round-trip tickets to anywhere in the United States or to Canada and then I'd get 60 percent off the drug store bills and eye doctors, I don't know what all, and then she kept on talking. I kept on telling her I couldn't hear and then she said, well, now I have to record what you're going to tell me, I'm going to ask you some questions. I said "No, you're not going to record anything I tell you, because I'm not going to tell you anything." And she said, "Oh yeah, you have to tell me." I don't know how she got my name. My telephone number is under my husband's name. She knew my name and address, so be aware. It's a fraud.

Unfair to other students

I READ the article on how schools must pay for special-needs students, and I am deeply concerned about what it says. It says we have to educate the handicapped, whatever the cost. I think this is wrong. Who will be paying for all these costs? Probably the students who are being educated on a shoe-string budget to educate the handicapped. When the term appropriate is used, why don't we use common sense? Spend the money on those who will be able to use their education. This is so unfair to the students who are not considered handicapped.

Side effects of prescriptions

I FOUND it interesting that Judy Lueders had a column on the side effects of some herbal supplements. Obviously she won't be writing on the side effects of prescribed medication, because it would take volumes. In fact, that's exactly what it takes, a huge book to list all the side effects of prescribed medication.

Barking dogs in Jackson

PEOPLE SAY with dogs they have them so people don't break into their homes. How can a dog help when it is locked in a pen in the backyard? If they are working, they need to keep their dogs in the house so it doesn't annoy people who are night workers and have to sleep in the daytime. We called city hall. They said call the police. The police says file a complaint. Who wants all that trouble? Police have other things to do.
