DAVID LIMBAUGH'S columns are right on the money. Clinton's excuse-making Democrats can't accept the truth, especially on the character of this adulterer, liar and pervert we have in the White House. When will these Clinton groupies stop lying to themselves? Maybe their morals are as low as his. Keep up the good work, David. The truth hurts some...

The truth hurts sometimes

DAVID LIMBAUGH'S columns are right on the money. Clinton's excuse-making Democrats can't accept the truth, especially on the character of this adulterer, liar and pervert we have in the White House. When will these Clinton groupies stop lying to themselves? Maybe their morals are as low as his. Keep up the good work, David. The truth hurts some.

Lessons from earned-income credit

MY SON attends college and works part-time. He didn't make enough money last year to pay taxes, yet because of the earned-income tax credit, he got a tax refund. I'm glad to see my son get some extra spending money, but when you think about it the earned-income tax credit is a tax-free fund for people who don't pay taxes. Naturally my son thought this was great, so I explained to him that he did not earn this money and that every dollar of the refund is a dollar that came from someone else's earnings. I want my son to be a productive member of society, not one of the growing legions of takers who live off the rest of us.

So that's what it looks like

WHEN I looked up the definition of a pompous, self-righteous windbag in the dictionary, it showed a picture of David Limbaugh.

Clinton was involved

TO THE person who said President Clinton had nothing to do with the Miami raid, I encourage him to read the May 1 edition of Time magazine. In there it very clearly states that as they were returning on Air Force One from a memorial marking the fifth anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, Reno and Clinton huddled together for 45 minutes to decide exactly what to do.

There's value in those columns

WILL YOU Speak Out callers get off this kick of criticizing David Limbaugh's columns? One caller even had the audacity to claim Limbaugh's columns were worthless. That's ridiculous. Reading them is of particular value to liberal Democrats who suffer from chronic low blood pressure.

Prisoners don't deserve the best

HURRAY FOR the Tamms prison leaders. The prisoners deserve to eat and live in less than ideal conditions. If more prisons were like this, maybe the crooks would think twice before committing felonies against society.

He can dish it out, but can he take it?

I'M CERTAINLY glad Illinois Gov. George Ryan is going to press charges against the woman who threw the pie in his face. This shows Ryan thinks people who do not follow the law should be severely punished. But with the net tightening around Ryan and his cohorts in the secretary of state's office, it looks like it'll only be a short time until Ryan's action will have him before a judge and jury. And though his former employees are rolling over and pleading guilty, some of them will probably cop a deal and squeal on George. I certainly hope he's as able to take the punishment as he is to give it out. I know people who worked in his office, and it stunk to high heaven.

They're still not listening

THE JACKSON School Board just doesn't get the message that they alone were responsible for the bond issues and board member being defeated. So many people said, the night of that big meeting, if they won't listen to us here, maybe they'll listen at the ballot box. But they're still not listening. People are tired of that kind of arrogance and politics. On the front page, it says Jackson School District overspent its budget the past two years. If you don't have the money, you don't spend it and then cry for more.

With labels, it's counterfeiting

TO THE person who called in about the vendors not being able to sell the clothes they want to, they can sell all the clothes they want as long as they don't have brand names on them. When they do, that is counterfeiting.

Paint Statue of Liberty green

ABOUT THE Statue of Liberty on Freedom Corner here in Cape Girardeau: Hardly anybody knows it's there because it's painted an ugly chocolate brown. It doesn't stand out. It blends in, so nobody notices it. This statue needs to be painted green, like the original Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. I don't know who's responsible for taking care of the statue, but they really ought to change the color soon.

Here's the high court's chance

THE SUPREME Court needs to come to grips with the reality of our great Constitution: the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The review of the Nebraska law before them now is their next, out of many, opportunity to return their decisions to what the Constitution dictates. All God-given human life is protected by the Constitution and must be protected by the law of the land. Respect for life, liberty and the law rides on their decision.

Nightmare is almost over

NOW THE whole world gets to see the clown Billy as the United States president. He's practicing to be a standup comedian in the twinkletoes Hollywood. That will be the only standup he's capable of. What a disgrace to our great country this whole Clinton administration has been, a total nightmare that will be kicked out in November.

Waiting for solutions

ACCORDING TO the Southeast Missourian, the financial situation at Jackson schools is critical. But we don't see or hear anything from our new board member who was elected as a result of the negative attacks on the school and the anti-bond criticism.

Need World War II bonuses

MARC POWERS' article in April 29 edition of the Southeast Missourian again illustrates state Sen. Jerry Howard's true colors on deserving veteran issues. What happened to the casino fees set aside for WWII bonuses? Missouri legislators should immediately pass a bill with bonuses for those vets. Of course, the tax-credit plan will leave many of these vets on the outside. My brother-in-laws are deceased WWII vets. Perhaps the deaths of most of these vets will solve Senator Howard's dilemma.
