Another tax increase. Who would have figured it? We never had these kind of tax increases under the old county commissioners. It seems to me that these folks don't know how to budget and use what they have. Instead they want more and more. Another tax increase. Who would have figured it? We never had these kind of tax increases under the old county commissioners. It seems to me that these folks don't know how to budget and use what they have. Instead they want more and more.
Syria involvement
I am a World War II veteran, and may I say a very concerned veteran on behalf of our nation and our young men. I listen to the news regarding Syria and the impending desire for our leaders to get our nation and young men involved. In our nation's history there have been hundreds of thousands of our young men lost in war. The very definition of civil proclaims that it is "their war" and not ours. If our great nation would get involved with this weak nation it could kick off WWIII.
Liberal bias?
Judging by the literary style, Speak Out has the same liberal callers calling every day, often more than once. Can't the Southeast Missourian figure that out? Or is it your resident liberal, Mr. Miller, who is doing the calling?

Fair comment
I wish the person who commented in Sunday's Speak Out about the SEMO Fair entertainment would gather their thoughts and try again because that comment made absolutely no sense. What in the world do Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus have to do with who plays the SEMO Fair? Both are way too big an act to play that venue. Earlier this year on the fair's Facebook page someone actually asked that they look into booking Taylor Swift for the fair, who had just sold out two nights at the 18,000-seat Scottrade Center. That's almost as ridiculous as the person over on the Show Me Center Facebook page who asked them to book Pink Floyd, a band that hasn't toured in 20 years and would sell out huge football stadiums at ridiculous prices if they did. Think before you comment, people.
Super power?
Obama has reached his goal. The USA is not a super power anymore. we are just one of the guys. Obama has been trying to shed this superior stigma of ours since he was elected. Well, Barack, you've succeeded. What else do you have up your sleeve? You are a sorry excuse of a president.
Babies, children
A lot of tears are falling over the people killed in Syria, especially over the children. How ironic that a nation that freely aborts its unborn children should shed a tear over another nation's atrocities.
