I am outraged. I can't help my Jackson third-grader spell anymore. In the past, the teacher sent a possible spelling list -- not the real spelling list, just something to go by -- and then the children would have other words. But at least I knew what to study with her. Now I have to dream up words that my child might or might not have based on a skill that I might not know.
I know how to lower the national and state debt. Cut Medicaid for healthy people who can work, not the disabled or seniors. When people decide to have children, they need to think, "Can I provide everything for this child -- food, clothes, insurance, day care?" What they do think is, "I can rely on Medicaid and food stamps."
I wish the Rick Perrys and David Limbaughs of the world would have to depend on Social Security for their total income. They might not consider it a Ponzi scheme then.
