Vote

The most disrespectful thing anyone can do to the flag, National Anthem, and the military is not voting.

Funeral processions

I was sad and disappointed to hear that our Cape police will no longer escort funerals. It is a respect thing, like standing for the national anthem, people pulling off the road or stopping for a funeral procession. And now funeral processions will have to abide traffic signals, which will just about do away with the procession when there are cars mixed in with the funeral. I know the excuse that is being used is liability. Our society is really headed in the wrong direction. Less and less respect for both the living and the dead. But no one will use any common sense anymore...it's all liability and litigation.

Parking lot

Franklin School added a wonderful parking lot last year. It would be greatly appreciated if the staff, teachers and visitors would kindly park there instead of in the neighboring street where there is limited parking for the residents. Trash pickup is also hampered many times.

Veto override

I'm happy for the override of the gun bill and voter ID. All this will do is make it possible for a law-abiding citizen to have self protection. Every week and sometimes more often there is a shooting in Cape. The 16-year-old could not legally have a gun and most of the others are not legal. They are still on the streets with guns. As far as voter ID we need to show an ID for almost everything we do. This bill requires the state to help those who say they can't get one. The only excuse they will have is too lazy to do it.

Conceal-carry

We're going to or already have set a record. With conceal-carry without a permit, Missouri has become a national laughing stock for the 17th time in two years.

Police escort

Cape police won't escort funerals. But they can sit on the interstate, while traffic violations in town are epidemic on Lexington and Perryville roads. What happened to protect and serve?

Fair contests

SEMO Fair board things need to be changed on the little contest you have every year. Same kids compete, same kids win, using the same judges causes this. Let's treat all children equally.

Flu shots

How does one find out when flu shots are available? When will they be given at the Osage Center? I have been searching online until I'm blue in the face and cannot find a date they will be given.
