I would like to give my most grateful thanks to the lady who stopped her car and helped my husband, who had fallen in the yard, get back up. You're an angel. Thank you. Immigration delay Not even those people who were gullible enough to vote for Obama once and then twice will believe that he is delaying his executive action on immigration until after the election for anything but to provide cover for those lame duck Democrats who are surely going to lose the Senate...

Immigration delay

Not even those people who were gullible enough to vote for Obama once and then twice will believe that he is delaying his executive action on immigration until after the election for anything but to provide cover for those lame duck Democrats who are surely going to lose the Senate.

Texting problem

Catholic high school needs to have lessons of texting and driving. I was at the stoplight with all the traffic coming from the high school near McDonald's. There were three girls in one of the cars at the light. They were all texting including the driver or playing with their phones. When the light changed they turned down on the interstate still all texting or playing with their phones. It is way too dangerous to be texting while driving and especially at speeds on the interstate.

Jackson scores

This is regarding the "Jackson test scores follow state standards." These third- and fifth-graders have all gone through the standards-based grading with four-three-two-one. The writing was on the wall years ago, when parents tried to talk to the board about no spelling, no grades, no accountability, and high turnover rate of good teachers, and turnover rate of good families with high expectations leaving the district left and right. Wake up, board and administration. Your programs failed many students who can't get those years back.

Restaurant smoke

I come to Cape Girardeau every once in a while to eat dinner or something. I live in the area close. And the smoke inside of restaurants, I just find it unbelievable that Cape Girardeau hasn't changed that. Being a medical area, you're supposed to be, I mean, it stopped us from coming to Cape Girardeau to eat dinner.

Parade trash

The city needs to make an ordinance that any time anybody has a parade, that they have a mandatory cleanup group that goes in behind the parade and cleans up all the trash. It is ridiculous how much trash there is along Broadway. Plastic bottles, paper wrappers. You name it.

Lombardo litter

This message is a request for people who are throwing garbage out of their car windows. Please stop that. This old grandmother has to get out on Lombardo, a very busy street, with my dust pan and broom and sweep up blue beer bottles that smash all over the street. This is disgusting and it's breaking my heart. Please, stop.

Blanchard scores

Kudos to Blanchard School for beating all other Cape schools and Jackson schools by leaps and bounds. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why. They have a principal with experience, common sense, loving discipline, and actually believes in her staff. There's none of this positive behavior, fake praise stuff. She is allowed to use the Boys Town character education system, has great reading and math resources for her teachers, actually gives them tools to work with. She takes care of all discipline issues and lets the teachers teach.

Texting law

If the city of St. Charles can pass a law against texting and driving, why can't the city of Cape do it? It's very dangerous. People run right through lights. If you sit out there and watch them at intersections, you'll see them. It sure would be nice if they would pass a law that texting would be the same as DWI or DUI.
