Blame Republicans

IN REPLY to the person who said older people should stop relying on the government and their sons and daughters should take care of their prescription drugs: Thanks to the Republicans, not only can the older folks not get the help they need from the government, but they also cannot get the help they need from their sons and daughters due to all the lost jobs and layoffs.

Declaring war

I BEG the brothers Limbaugh to take conservative columnist George Will to the woodshed for having the temerity to write that the coming war against Iraq requires an official declaration by Congress.

Incorrect labels

SURPRISINGLY, David Limbaugh has botched his labeling of black conservatives and liberals. Two examples will suffice. He characterizes Louis Farrakhan as a liberal when most of his views are in line with conservatism. In addition, he wrongly labeled Walter E. Williams as a conservative when Williams is best described as a radical libertarian. I just wish Limbaugh would get over the tendency to label black Americans according to the political philosophy to which they adhere.

Scary direction

CONSERVATIVE columnist Cal Thomas recently called on the U.S. "to liberate the Saudi people from their oppressive regime." Thus, Thomas and a host of others are trying to take this country in a direction that would have scared the dickens out of Dr. Strangelove.

The party's over

I DON'T believe many Americans trust government anymore. The Republicans are about as bad as the Democrats lately. I'm a very disappointed Republican. I don't have a party. I feel left out of the system. Voting for a third party just doesn't get it. The mainstream politicians have won. I give up. God help us all.

Parking for exercise

THIS YEAR I will be walking to my classes at Southeast. I received a perimeter parking pass, much to my dismay, and I refuse to pay $85 to park a mile away from campus in the Show Me Center lots. Parking on the city streets nearby is sometimes closer and free. Even if I have to walk from Capaha Park, at least it is exercise I need.
