The Cape Municipal Band needs to be congratulated on a successful year. The music was enjoyed by many of us on Wednesday night, and I hope they know we appreciate what they did. We thank them.
I want to thank the wonderful person who found my driver's license and put it in my mailbox on Big Bend Road. Thank you.
A recent Speak Out post stated that those against Common Core were only using conspiracy theories and generalizations to attack Common Core. Supporters are only offering anecdotal evidence and generalizations as well. As a parent who questions the validity of Common Core, I can offer numerous examples of the program's shortcomings. A shining example of its failure is the fact that retests are a joke. My daughter had nearly 20 pages of notes for a test. Students who failed that test were then given one page of notes, which turned out to be the test questions. Epic fail.
Would anybody be interested in a job with three months vacation a year? Virtually no hard work and make lots of money? Sit by while the economy and the regular workforce goes belly up? Then apply to be a congressman or senator today.
I am so sad to think how many handicapped people, including me, will miss our mail being brought to our door box and our friendly mail people. Never have I looked forward to something so much. It's a dirty shame that you people get money hungry and take it out on us poor, innocent people. Shame on you.
When it comes to the global warming we had last week that caused the low temperatures, I for one am thankful for it.
I'm looking at David Limbaugh's column in the Sunday paper, and I disagree wholeheartedly with everything he and his brother Rush say. I don't think Obama's views on a lot of stuff are as extreme as their halfhearted, half-beligerent views are on a lot of things. There's two sides to every story.
Ronald Reagan would roll over in his grave if he knew that in a recent column David Limbaugh claimed that Reagan fits the mold of today's tea party. Ronald Reagan was a pragmatic conservative, willing to cut deals, even raise taxes if necessary. If anything, the country has shifted so far to the right that Reagan today would likely side with conservative Democrats.
I know everyone is as aggravated as I am with our Congress. They don't do anything when they are there, and it seems like they're on vacation more than they're in session. I think their pay should be withheld until they accomplish something. It's just not right the way they're doing things.
If the economy is so good like Obama says it is, why are there 40 to 50 million new people on food stamps? Why are the welfare rolls getting bigger?
I've given a great deal of thought as to where I think the downtown cellphone tower should be located. As I scan the area between the casino and the bridge, I can't think of a worse place to put it. And putting a Missouri flag on top of it isn't the answer. Thank you, Loretta Schnieder, for voting against this location.
The childhood obesity rate is falling. Thank you for your ongoing efforts to educate us on this matter, Mrs. Michelle Obama.
