I would like to commend the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band for its programs this year. They have been very, very good and the extra entertainment has been good, but the municipal band programs are great. Thank you for the pleasure of having this in our city.
On Friday, July 27, a bad storm rolled through the area. Anytime there is a tornado warning in Cape Girardeau County, the Jackson warning sirens go off. That Friday, they went off 30 minutes late after the storm had passed. I just thought the people of Jackson would like to know this.
The government needs to stop these farmers from irrigating immediately. With the water table down as it is, too many people in the country are losing their water. That is not right. The farmers will get help from the government with their crops. But the people losing their household water won't. All irrigating should be stopped immediately. This is getting to be a bad situation for a lot of people.
I never saw anything so boring and monotonous as the opening of the Olympics. What did that have anything to do with it?
Thank God for the rain, and if there is any question at all, we know he is on the throne. He is in control.
