I feel sorry for the families who live on Mount Auburn Road during this construction time. The rest of us can avoid the mess, but they cannot.
AMONG independents, the group most touted by Democrats as being the wind that fills their sails, a recent poll shows Obama's job approval dropping to 42 percent and his disapproval rising to 50 percent. Of that 50 percent who disapprove, the vast majority disapprove strongly. I guess they've noticed his wax crown melting. The USS Obama is taking on a lot of water and could be starting to sink.
MY boyfriend and I were in a car accident that left us both in the emergency room and carless. As we were coming through the intersection of William Street and Silver Springs Road, a car ran a red light, and our car plowed straight into the other car going 45 mph. Air bags deployed, and seat belts held fast. As I began screaming, the driver of the other car cursed at us, flipped us off and drove away. If you see an older teal green Grand Prix with a dented driver's side, please call the cops. I'd hate for anyone else to experience what we are experiencing.
DOES anyone in Cape Girardeau County have job openings that pay above $9 an hour? I am desperately seeking help from anybody willing to give me a chance. I want out of debt. I am willing to take training. I have cut expenses to the point my paycheck and two other jobs are only used for bills. Only absolutely necessary food is being bought, I walk everywhere I can, I am cleaning houses to get cash for food and gas. I have worked for 30-plus years for a boss who does not care if I make it or not. I have an old house I was trying to restore until the ice storm and other storm damage have made all but necessary repairs impossible. I am looking for a buyer. I don't know what else to do. Thank you for listening.
STATE Sen. Jason Crowell is wise to think hard about potential bond issues for capital improvements in the state. Many Missourians take pride in the low-service, low-tax mentality and accept the quality of life that results. I think we should determine the quality of life we want and set the taxes accordingly. Missouri currently fights Mississippi for the lowest ranking in the nation for public services, including education. We wonder why our economy is not progressive and our children grow to leave the state for better opportunities. Invest in Missouri. Invest in our children. Take pride in the quality of life we can produce, and quit penny-pinching us into a Third World state.
I was just looking online for when the tax-free weekend was and noticed that Cape Girardeau Is one of the cities not participating in the tax-free weekend this year. I think that is terrible. I live in Farrar and shop in Cape Girardeau at least once a week and sometimes more for everything. How sad it is that Cape Girardeau cannot help the people who shop there year-round for one weekend by offering certain items tax free. Jackson and Perryville are participating. All I have to say to Cape Girardeau is shame on you. I'll be shopping up north this year for all my school, clothing and computer purchases.
I'M a Democrat, and most of my friends are as well, even though we do not want the government intruding any more than they already have in the area of health care. Whether the Democrats are in control or the Republicans, when the government gets involved in something it tends to not go well. Our health care is too important to put in the hands of people who care about little other than being in the public eye, getting re-elected and having power. I have contacted my elected representatives and explained my feelings and shared that many of my friends and I will actively campaign against any incumbent who supports the president's efforts for government overhaul of or action involving our health-care system.
