We are so excited to watch our favorite team play on the new turf at The Pit in Jackson. We're a football town! So, if I understand you correctly, Mike Jensen, the seeds of our current discontent with the convicts in the worsened Washington swamp, were planted by Barack Obama? Wow. Just wow!...

The Pit

We are so excited to watch our favorite team play on the new turf at The Pit in Jackson. We're a football town!

Jensen column

So, if I understand you correctly, Mike Jensen, the seeds of our current discontent with the convicts in the worsened Washington swamp, were planted by Barack Obama? Wow. Just wow!

Monuments

Confederate monuments weren't removed during the Obama years because they weren't offensive from 2009-2016.

Insulting Trump

Our government or the Democrat party is wasting so much money to try to insult the president. Twenty years ago the president slept with someone. Really? Grow up, people. Most of these people pointing fingers should also point their finger at themselves. Bottom line is the President is doing a great job and some people and our news media are jealous and can't stand it.

Jackson decision

The Jackson Board of Aldermen in all of its wisdom decided to make an all-way stop in front of the senior high school event center on the day before school starts. Did the aldermen just suddenly realize the crosswalk has been there for a decade or so? Do they not care enough to give student drivers a little heads up?

Trash pickup

A recent letter to the editor detailed problems with Cape's trash pick up and were spot on. Trash truck drivers will get out of their trucks to stick a note on the trash can explaining that a car was parked illegally in front of the cans, but won't move the can so it can be emptied. It's asinine.

Scam alert

Grandparents beware! Friday I received a phone call from a scam artist purporting to be my grandson who lives in Los Angeles. He started off by saying he had not been feeling well the last couple of days and had a terrible cold, which was to throw me off for the voice not sounding like my grandson generally sounds. There was the general chit chat, and he was good! Then he informed me he and some friends had been to a concert the night before and he stupidly had drunk a couple of beers at the concert, and on the way home he was involved in a car accident. He said he was driving, was charged with a DUI, and was in jail. He did not want his parents to know what had happened until he could tell them face to face, etc. He needed me to send him $8,000 for a lawyer and bail, or he would have to spend the week end in jail. I told him I would not send the money, that he would have to tell his parents and get it from them and hung up. THE WARNING! I have read about such scams and had a scam artist try to pull the scam on a niece of mine a couple of years ago when her granddaughter was traveling from Houston to Salt Lake. Even with my knowledge of the scam and its variations, he had me pretty well reeled in for part of the conversation.

Mid-terms

I read where if the Democrats take control of the House and Senate in the mid-term elections that they will unleash their accusations and probing into President Trump's Russia involvement, Stormy's accusations, etc. So what has Mueller been doing for over a year? (And found absolutely nothing on Trump!) Enough is enough. Millions of our tax dollars spent is enough. Maybe they need to fund this witch hunt out of their pockets. Someone needs to tell these Democrats to go home and let our country continue to prosper as it has wonderfully since Trump took office.

What a joke

CNN's most watched video of the day was an audio recording of President Trump that was entitled, "caught on tape: Get me a Coke, please." The media is an absolute joke.

Fresh peaches

I used to think the best, fresh peaches came from Georgia. But my friends brought us some from a farm in Illinois. Wow. Incredible! Does anyone know where we can get such fresh peaches on a regular basis in Cape Girardeau?
