I recently read where a girl was suspended from a high school for saying, "Bless You" to another student after they sneezed. My child recently started classes at SIU and one of their instructors said that "religion is just in your head." Well, sir, I strongly disagree with you! This is a prime example of a university that stands back and does nothing when these ultra-liberal atheist instructors try to use their classes to indoctrinate anti-Christian ways of thinking into their students. ...
Anti-religion instructor
I recently read where a girl was suspended from a high school for saying, "Bless You" to another student after they sneezed. My child recently started classes at SIU and one of their instructors said that "religion is just in your head." Well, sir, I strongly disagree with you! This is a prime example of a university that stands back and does nothing when these ultra-liberal atheist instructors try to use their classes to indoctrinate anti-Christian ways of thinking into their students. These students are paying a lot of money for a good education; they are not paying to have instructors' opinions crammed down their throats. Needless to say, my child dropped the class!
Police cartoon
Recent cartoons imply that the police are at fault in Ferguson. I doubt that this is going to be the truth when the truth comes out. Recently they had to dispense a crowd because of gunfire, shooting and fire bombs. Yet you are implying the police are in the wrong. You are 100 percent wrong in spreading more false information. If the police did not wear riot gear, there would be some wounded or killed by this useless slum. Not the peaceful people of Ferguson.
Racial issue
Our country will never get past the racial thing until we stop labeling people by their race or color. When the media, who much of the time stirs the pot, puts these labels on people when reporting, they are contributing to racial tensions. When writing about the captain of the Missouri Highway Patrol, they had to mention that he was black. Who cares! He is the captain, whether he is purple, red or yellow, but the media has to stir it up as they seem to try to justify that things will be fair now because of his color.
Police, website
I understand why the Southeast Missourian limits their online access, otherwise it would be hard to stay in business. But what I have never understood is why not allow the police reports to be viewed? It's impossible to read all the police reports before your access is cut, and I would think it serves the community to be able to know what may be going on near our own homes as far as burglaries and thefts. I'm not asking for full access to everything on the website or I would become a paid subscriber, but would it be too much to ask to allow the police and fire reports to better educate a neighborhood to potential dangers?

Investigation
Missouri's lieutenant governor wants lawmakers to look into events related to the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown by a Ferguson police officer. We don't need them sticking their nose in this. They screw up enough for the American people.

Would Congress formally declare war against ISIL/ISIS if President Obama asked for it? Um, no.
IBD editorial
Once again, you could save a lot of space by summarizing and greatly reducing screeds from the likes of, say, Investor's Business Daily. For example, in a recent reprint that went on and on, almost to the point of seemingly never ending, you could have summarized the contention of the column with something like, "We must do anything necessary to create jobs even if it means the wanton destruction of the environment and, eventually, the planet."
SEMO Speaker Series
When I looked at the list of the speakers for SEMO's lecture series, I was surprised and disappointed to find no speaker representing the conservative point of view. I believe that in a state-funded university, students should be exposed to both sides of political ideology. With the elections drawing near, I think that voting-aged citizens should be well educated on both sides of the issues facing our country.
