Obama bias
THE July 27 Rasmussen polling numbers show President Obama and the Democrats are lying like dogs, no matter their color, when they tell you that ramming their health-care fiasco bill down America's throat is not about Obama or about them and their agenda. Only 20 percent of Americans say health care should be Obama's top priority. Translation? Eighty percent of us see through the deception and do not want it. Are our senators and representatives listening? The all-powerful media rushed to Obama's aid last August and since then their perverted relationship with Obama and his far-left policies continues like a sleazy soap opera. In spite of this, 76 percent of us see Obama as liberal. In spite of all the lying and posturing by Obama and by the media for Obama, 75 percent of us correctly recognize that Obama's stimulus boondoggle for the ugly partisan payback scheme that it was, paybacks to political hacks and cronies with federal taxpayer money. It is time we demand the press do an honest job of reporting and quit pushing its liberal-biased and politically motivated Obama agenda.
ACORN funds
THE House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has released a report accusing ACORN of violating several tax and election laws by using tax dollars to support its liberal political agenda. According to the report, ACORN has received $53 million from taxpayers. What apparently is happening is that all of that money goes into one account -- Citizens Consulting Inc. -- and is intermingled with members' dues, foundation grants, donors' grants and all sorts of other money. Then that money is, or at least has been, used to further the campaigns of people running for office that ACORN endorses. Thanks to former member organizer -- now president -- Obama, ACORN now has access to $2.8 billion through efforts of the Obama administration. ACORN's apparent method of operation is to commingle tax dollars with all other money into one account and funnel those dollars (including tax money, money supplied by American taxpayers) into its 361 affiliated organizations so they can carry out partisan political activity. Such a scheme warrants a criminal investigation and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

Team leadership
AS a Jackson Barracuda parent I want to thank Bernie and Mandi Gard for stepping up and assuming the leadership roles for the swim team. Without their time and dedication, the swim team would have suffered greatly. Thanks again for making sure we stayed on track.
Recycling worry
REGARDING Cape Girardeau's proposed trash plan: It would be a step backward to reduce recycling pickups by not including glass. Most people would put glass in their trash bin. More research should be done to see how other cities do their single-bin recycling.
