Mark the lanes
THE CITY is putting up signs to inform drivers about cyclists. Won't this add one more thing to distract drivers, thereby making the roads less safe than before? Bite the bullet and restripe. Stop being lazy.
Federal snag
A FEW years ago, Perry County had the same problem as Cape Girardeau County. Officials tried to sell off the county park. When those opposing the sale thought all was lost, they found out some federal funds were used to improve it, and that shut the deal down immediately. You cannot sell something that involved federal funds. You might want to check into that.
Horrific death
GOD BLESS the man who died and was found dead in the weeds in Cape Girardeau. How horrific. Cape desperately needs a homeless shelter.
Automatic no vote
THE POLITICAL candidates should know that by contacting me on my personal telephone will be an automatic disqualification of my vote for their party.
Painless execution
I HAVE a son in the Corrections Department. I wouldn't want him struggling while he was electrocuted. Why can't officials put inmates to be executed in a chamber with carbon monoxide? That's painless, and you can't smell it. I don't see why they are tied down either.
Heeding Constitution
PEOPLE NEED to realize that our government is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Under no circumstances are we to disregard the views of the voters. Our elected officials are supposed to be carrying out the views of the voter. It's becoming more and more obvious in our day and age that people are becoming more socialistic or even communistic in their views and in their disregard of the Constitution and the way the Framers put our government together. We need to beware of getting beyond the point where we do things regardless of the views of the voters.
Dearly missed
I WAS a friend of Lester Jeffrey, the man who passed away downtown. Lester was a kind and compassionate person who thought of other people many times before he thought of himself. Sad as we are to see Lester passed, he has left something we can all take with us: caring about other people and the situations they may be in. I'm happy to see that he was working to help homeless people. That shows what kind of person was. I hope people will learn by his example. He was a wonderful friend and will be dearly missed.
