I think texting is rude. I know you don't have to hear someone talking out loud in public places. I experienced that in a library. A lady was talking loud on her cellphone in the middle of the library, of all places. She needs to learn to text. I'm talking about people you are with that no matter what activity you are doing they are texting and having a conversation with all these other people while you are with them. They are continually looking at their phone while you are eating at a restaurant, shopping or even in a movie. I think this is rude to the people you are with at the time.
LOOK at the stimulus case by case. Obama gave a stimulus to corporations. People who got that money were people who invested in stocks and rich people with money. They got that stimulus money. And the tax stimulus people paid their debts off with it. They didn't buy any goods and services. They paid debts.
YOU might get tired of people, but you won't get tired of nature. Head out to Missouri State Park.
JUST wanted to know if the city is going to send out the mosquito truck this year. We've been in town all summer long and haven't seen them one time in our neighborhood. We've talked to friends and relatives and nobody has seen them. Just wanted to know what's going on this year.
THIS is for the person who had a message in Speak Out asking where's the money from the cigarette tax and the alcohol. I'm thinking it's probably going to pay for Medicare and Medicaid for people who have smoked and drunk all their life and are now disabled and the government's having to support them and pay their medical bills. That's what cigarettes and drinking do for you. Believe me, I know. I lost a husband for the same reason.
WE keep hearing about the increase in unemployed people. In my opinion, one of the reasons for unemployment being as high as it is is we have too good benefits for people who are not working. If these people that are not working didn't get any kind of subsidy from the government, they would be out taking these jobs that we see all the time in the paper that are available. But apparently nobody wants to do it because they can get too much money for doing nothing. As long as this is this way, our unemployment is likely to stay higher than we want it to.
I was just watching the news where the government says that there is medicinal value in marijuana and they want to classify it in the same drug category as heroin. If they're going to do that, then I guess they ought to arrest our former president, Bill Clinton, for doing it, and I guess we can compare what he did to doing heroin. I'm not condoning the use of marijuana by any means folks, but it is not in the same class as heroin. I guarantee you, you know many more people out there who have done it including politicians and everybody who's fighting against it, not for the reason that it's bad, just because it's the politically correct thing to do. So take it with a grain of salt what we see in the news about that. I can't believe they're comparing it to something like a hallucinogenic drug like heroin. It's not.
COULD anyone please tell me the exact meaning of "yield to oncoming traffic?" Does that mean one car from one side and one from another, or does it mean one car from one side and then a dozen jerks tailgating each other in order to get across the bridge first? I can't wait for Highway 34 to reopen so the yayhoos that drive it can get off the roads to Gordonville. Most of them are very rude.
I'D like to thank Walmart for having wheelchairs for fat people. That was very mean of the caller to call in with that. People who are heavy like to shop, and I'm sure Walmart likes their money. I think the caller needs to take it easy on passing judgment because I have a son who is 30 years old who is obese, but this is mostly caused by his medicine. I don't think the caller realizes what it's like to have medicines that cause your body weight to go up and down. I think he just gave up on trying to control his weight because you know medicines can play a big part mentally as well as physically on you. I think the caller should chill out. If the caller happens to be fit, well, thank his lucky stars, but don't be so judgmental about others.
WHEN is the city of Cape Girardeau going to put the high-water mark for 2011 on the downtown river wall? I bet it beats 1993.
I think all these actresses out in California and other places should take a lesson from Kate from England. She looks beautiful every time you see her, but she still has her body covered. She wasn't almost naked in anything she wore, and she looked much more beautiful than those who like to show their bodies.
FINALLY President Obama made one good decision when he cut out 7,000 government jobs from the space program, a huge savings of taxpayers' funding.
I agree, the rich have too many tax loopholes. But the idea of closing the tax loopholes will not work. Congress is owned by the rich lobbyists. The so-called closing of loopholes would be undone before long.
I agree with the caller about Paul Corbin's column in TBY. It was so funny, and any senior citizen could relate to those senior moments. Great column, Mr. Corbin.
