Make a job

I have a simple solution for every unemployed person looking for a job: Make a job. There's a market for countless services and plenty requiring little or no startup capital. The only resource required is ambition.

Closing loopholes

CLOSING tax loopholes for corporate jets and large corporations is a tax increase in the minds of Grover Norquist, most Republicans in Congress and David Limbaugh.

No respect

LET'S see, Mississippi County had about $75 million in road and bridge damage and they do not have the money for a 20 percent local match. But the damage was actively caused by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers setting off explosives in over two miles of levees. Plus maybe $10 million to repair the levee and much more damage on private houses, buildings and land. It would have been much cheaper to spend $1 million to reinforce the levees at Cairo and not set off explosives. The officers who ordered this waste of money and private property should be court-martialed and fired. Maybe the next set of army officers would respect American citizens.

Debt ceiling

I hope Obama stands firm that the tax cuts have to go. The Republicans haven't done one thing in the past 10 years but to destroy America with their big tax breaks for the rich million and billionaires and big companies. They claim it will take away jobs. It sure didn't make any jobs in the past six years. It has destroyed them. The high gas prices don't hurt them. It is more out of one pocket but more coming into the other pocket. They are destroying the American middle class and poor.

No raise

THE state of Missouri has not given its employees a raise in three years. Our health insurance has gone up every year. We could really use a cost of living raise to keep up with everything. I bet the senators, judges, governor and other officials will get a raise.
