TO the young man working at the Jackson Pool: Thank you for your kind deed toward my son and I. You made his day by letting him swim, and you helped renew my faith in today's youths. You and your parents should be proud of what a kind young gentleman you are.
YOU don't understand. Southeast Missouri State University's so-called SEMO Swamp (corner of Sprigg and New Madrid streets) is an artistic recreation of the time when all of Southeast Missouri could accurately be described as Swampeast Missouri. There is no aesthetic sensibility around here. None.
I didn't read "The press is no more" comment, but to me the opposite is true. The press is omnipresent. It is everywhere. It is too much.
IF the fireworks started on time and lasted longer, some would still fine something wrong with the event. Thank you to those in Jackson and Cape Girardeau who put forth their time and money so all could have a good time.
