I thought fireworks on the Fourth of July were supposed to stop at 11 o'clock. And it's a shame that the fireworks went on to 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning. People had to get up to go to work and couldn't go to work for hearing firecrackers all night down here on the south side. The police weren't doing their job. Because firecrackers all night down here? Three or 4 o'clock this morning? Some people have to rest and get up and go to work.
I like to read the Missourian and I look forward to it every day. But I was looking in the Sunday paper where it shows the picture of the restored General Baptist Church on the History Page. And if you look, there's a sign. I know it's for cars, but ... It's like it's setting on the church and it says, "No left turns." You know, that's how true that is. We need to make sure that we turn right. We do the right thing. God makes things happen. And I think that sign, it's amazing how things like that stick out and how it shows up on that church. I thank you for the pictures.
Many years ago, A.W. Birk chain-sawed a statue of Ben Franklin, which used to sit on the corner of Louisiana and Themis. When the new school was going to be built, they took the statue down and said they would put it back somewhere. Where is that statue and why is it not being displayed? The students and faculty of Franklin are very proud of that statue and would like to see it put back in place somewhere.
