I don't care what you say, but bingo is gambling. If we're going to shut one form of gambling out by voting not to have a casino, then we need to shut them all out. If the casino can't come to town, we need to get rid of bingo too.
I would like to say a special thank you to the woman who found my billfold in the J.C. Penney parking lot and turned it in to the store. You are truly an angel, an honest and wonderful person. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have a tremendous amount of "pay it forward" to do to be worthy of your kindness.
THERE is a penalty for lawn clippings in the street, since there is a city ordinance against it. But, sadly, it is not enforced. Besides looking nasty, clippings must require quite a bit of extra labor to clean out from all the storm sewers time after time.
THANK you to the U.S.A. Veterans for a fabulous celebration in Cape Girardeau of our country's Independence Day. Great job. Excellent fireworks exhibit. Please let us know where we can donate. We would love to help out for next year. Thank you so much for serving our country plus helping put together the wonderful weekend full of celebration culminating with a wonderful firework exhibit.
MOUNT Auburn Road was well worth the wait, Great job, Cape Girardeau. It's wonderful to live in a city that gives importance to maintaining our infrastructure.
HAS anyone been down Highway 177 in Cape Girardeau lately? Road crews have destroyed at least 10 to 20 nice, large trees for no reason. Some of these trees were at least 100 years old. I am not a tree hugger, but stripping down of trees like this pulls oxygen from your lungs and mine. Shame on the highway department or city or whoever is responsible for this.
AFTER much anticipation I finally got to play the newly refurbished Jaycee Municipal Golf Course. A lot of money was spent to ruin a perfectly good layout. The new greens are wonderful, if a bit challenging. Going to bentgrass was long overdue. My complaint, along with the majority of golfers who have played there, is that the five holes that were relocated are terrible and dangerous to play. There are balls coming at you from every angle. The tee boxes and greens are too close together. I hope Cape Girardeau has its liability insurance paid up.
