Turning to God

We have a government that is lying to us on many different levels. It's so obvious it's lying to us on these emails from the IRS. But at the same time, that's not the important thing. The important thing is that this county was founded on a belief in God, a belief, more specifically, on Jesus Christ. Until we get back to believing in Jesus Christ, things aren't going to go right with our government. We have to get back to the foundation. The foundation is to believe in God.

Who is first?

I have a question. What's faster, an ambulance or a big fire truck? I can answer that. Obviously, an ambulance is faster than a big, lumbering fire truck. So why then, in Jackson, do you always see the ambulance following the fire truck in an emergency call? I want the ambulance out in front, if I'm the one that calls 911.

Obama sends troops

Why is the president sending troops to Iraq to stop the same rebels he helped in Syria? Is this not the tail wagging the dog?

Missing emails

I would like to make a comment about the IRS losing their email. That is virtually impossible. Look when they go after these people who do child porn. They seem to erase, but evidently the FBI and local law enforcement can recover it. Maybe we need to send Lois Lerner's computer to our police department, because they seem like they can get these pornography things after they've been erased. The only way to destroy a hard drive is to take a drill and drill holes into it.

Smoking issue

Smoking at area youth summer sports is not a huge problem; the fact is that it only takes two or three smokers to pollute the fresh air of a large area. Second-hand smoke is not a welcome addition to most who enjoy fresh air, nor should the youth be subjected to it. If smokers can't forgo a smoke for a couple of hours, at least take it to the parking lot. Would be ideal if smoking could be banned altogether at these events.

Setting pay

Any government employee pay raise or pension should be voted on by the people. Not passed by the useless greedy legislators. No one else gets to set their own salary except maybe a business person. And then the people have the privilege of either doing business there or not. State law sets the pay for full-time prosecuting attorneys at the same amount as associate circuit judges. In Mississippi County those salaries will go from $116,000 a year to $133,716. This is just unreal and a slap in the face of the hard-working people.

Foreign policy

Wayne Bowen, Ph.D,, recently seemed to take a long, circuitous, almost endless route in a Southeast Missouian column to essentially endorse the foreign policy currently being followed in Iraq by President Obama, all preceded by the obligatory condemnation of the president.
