Guns, animals

Only in Southeast Missouri could people kill an albino deer or a little black bear and justify it, while displaying their National Rifle Association sticker on their car.

Say it ain't so

If it's true that St. Louis Cardinal personnel hacked into the Houston Astros database, then nothing, and I do mean nothing, is sacred anymore.

Mow it, culprit

Having read the "tattle tale" submission recently, I have to ask the author, "Do you think you and your behaviors may be the actual problem?" Not mowing your lawn and parking on your lawn are both covered by city ordinances. Your so-called "tattle tale" neighbors are probably concerned about maintaining the value of their hard-earned investment. You appear to not respect or value your own property much less your neighbors.' Possibly you rent and have no skin in the game. That's a very poor example for your children to see. You are not the victim. You are the culprit. Hopefully the city will monitor your residence to ensure you stay compliant with its ordinances.

Warning to cat

There's a big white cat roaming the neighborhood. And if she gets in my trash one more time ... need I say more? It's up to you to be the responsible cat owner and look out for her safety because it's just not going to be good.

Real selves

Remove fat. Fill in wrinkles. For God's sake, when are we women going to stop, and start being our authentic selves? Loving ourselves and living our lives. Get real.

Hello, yellow

Today is a gray, cloudy day. At two different locations, I passed a bicycle on a 55-mile-an-hour highway. One of the bicyclists was wearing a gray helmet and gray shirt, and he really kind of blended in with the gray clouds and was hard to see. The other bicyclist was wearing a bright yellow shirt with a bright yellow helmet. It almost looked like it was neon. It was so easy to see him. Hey, if you want safety, please wear bright clothes when you're riding bicycles.

Ditch

I've lost count of the phone calls to the city about the ditch at Country Club Drive and Dumais Street here in Cape. Every time it rains it overflows -- mud and all kinds of limbs and trash are in the street, then I have to drive through it.

Harley, unions

So Scott Walker riding a Harley is a joke? What's a joke is the idea that the union people who build Harleys "do the best job." Do the best job of what-- bankrupting the state with their outrageous demands for benefits that no one in the private sector receives, yet everyone pays for? All the unions care about is money and benefits, and they could care less how their demands affect the people and the communities around them. The only reason that Harley now builds motorcycles that can run 100 miles without falling apart is competition from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers. Oh, and guess what, the same applies to the auto business. The union workers produced junk for years until Honda came along and the other Japanese makers followed. Buyers suddenly realized that cars weren't made to fall apart.

Unemployment

Yes, I don't know how the news media and the print media can claim that unemployment is only 5.5 percent. We have 93 million people that don't even work. I don't even understand how that's even possible. Those numbers can't be right.

Birth control

I was reading, "Abortions decline in nearly every state." Finally, maybe women have found another method of birth control. Praise the Lord.

Broadway parking

Yes, I'm calling again to complain that it's impossible to shop at any of the little shops like Howard's and the others in the 800 block of Broadway, because the parking lot that is supposed to be for the shoppers of this area is filled with SEMO students' cars. The SEMO students have a parking lot directly across the street that they are able to park in, but the general public cannot. Yet they take up all the general public's parking places, and it's just very difficult to find a place to park to be able to shop.
