IF Cape Girardeau doesn't get a casino, those who gamble will continue to take their money somewhere else, along with their suicides, divorces, bankruptcies and economic failure after they lose.

More pool time

HOW come public swimming pools close on Labor Day or the day after? Children go back to school, but people who don't have children in school still like to go swimming when it is less crowded. Wouldn't it be nice if the pools stayed open until the first of October? Everyone knows as soon as school starts it gets hotter than heck around here.

HAS anyone else seen the eyesore we have in Cape Girardeau at Kingshighway and William Street with all the grass growing up in the median?

Underage beer

I have been in two restaurants when my 18-year-old son ordered a beer and was not asked for an ID. I asked the waitress if she was going to ask him his age. I called the manager the next day. He said it was my fault. I do not let my son drink, but if the parents try to control it and the underage can still buy it, how are we supposed to control it?
