Roof scammer
A warning to Cape Girardeau-area residents: There is a young man going around door to door trying to do roof work, house repairs, etc. who has now scammed at least two people in our neighborhood, and possibly many more in our area. Please beware if anyone comes to your door offering to do any work, DO NOT give him any money up front until the job is completed and inspected. He never returned to finish the job he committed to do in one case, and never even did any of the job in the other case. Please watch out for him; he may also have another person helping him. If you need repairs done, find a professional or someone you know and trust.
Greedy unions
Because of their extremely poor student performance, the state of Connecticut is trying to implement sweeping reforms in its education system. However, progress is being blocked by, surprise, the teachers unions. Do these union people care nothing at all for the actual education of the nation's children? Our schools nationally, with few exceptions, are failing at the basic task of educating our young people. We hear on the news day after day about the unions refusing to agree to any kind of concessions to improve the education system. All of these people, the union teachers as well as the union bosses should hang their heads in shame. What a greedy uncaring bunch of people!
Talk show disgrace
What a disgrace Rush Limbaugh is, and what a disgrace that some area legislators think it is OK that he is honored in the Capitol. Of course they will, because if they didn't he would attack them on his talk show.
Working out
Thanks for running photos and names of area graduating seniors. I recognized one in particular. I frequent an area gym. Every time I'm there, she is there, putting herself through an extraordinarily grueling workout. I have no doubt that her readiness to take on life's challenges matches her commitment to physical fitness and that she will be an unqualified success, regardless of what she chooses to do with her life. Her name is Savanna Ayers.

Democratic Party
I am wondering what in the heck is happening to the Democratic Party. I have been a Democrat for a long period of time. When Joe Biden gets up there and represents the highest office in the land and gives his spiel about men marrying men and women marrying women is perfectly OK, there is something wrong. If these people want to live this lifestyle, be my guest, but to perpetuate it through our White House is terrible. I will never vote for Joe Biden. No, I am not for gay marriage. There is no such thing as gay marriage. Marriage is a sacrament.
The slow lane
Just wondering is there any drivers left that know what the inside lane of a four-lane road is used for. It is not for Sunday driving, it is the pass lane. So please, slower traffic keep right. It is posted all over the place, but nobody follows it, nobody obeys the laws; they just drive slow in the fast lane. For those of you who like to poke, stay in the right lane.
Smoking issue
I can't believe people seem dumbfounded that the smoking issue is resurfacing. When does cigarette smoke ever belong around food? Never. Everyone who reads knows smoke, whether it is first, second or third hand, is unhealthy. I applaud Loretta Schneider's efforts to bring Cape Girardeau up to the standard that most of the U.S. abides by. The simple solution: Smokers should either walk outside to smoke or get a takeout order.
Curb enthusiasm
Thank you MoDOT for repairing the curb on the right turn at Route K and Silver Springs Road. Good job and thanks again.
