Postal service

The post office has had problems for several years now. They would have plenty of money if bulk mail would not have been given a discount. Why should bulk mail and all that junk mail be given a break on postage rates? It all has to be handled and processed just like the letters I send. They have lost all this money throughout all these years. And yet, with all of the budget deficits in the postal system, they still had millions to use for "advertising" for Lance Armstrong. Why did the post office have to advertise anyway?

Police resources

Give the police forces the freedom to use needed information. The people and politicians want to tie the hands of the police departments from being able to use the best resources to work possible crimes. They give the criminals too much protection of their rights. Then when something happens, they are all there to find fault in the way they might have missed something. We need to stop tying the hands of the police forces and let them do their work.

The trade-off

The casino numbers came out again. It appears that for every time that someone visited the casino they lost $70 on average. The total losses for all the visitors was several million dollars, with most of the visitors coming from the Cape area. In exchange for sending those millions of dollars out of the area, the city of Cape Girardeau gets just shy of $400,000. Wake up people, the casino is siphoning money out of the area.

Bad news

I don't watch TV, listen to the radio, and I'm going to stop reading the paper. All I see is bad news and more bad news. I'm glad I'm old.

Please get your facts straight. The food stamps program for dogs is all volunteer donations to people who are struggling but don't just want to dump their pets. Having done rescue for many years, I saw too often people just throwing their pets to die in shelters.
