About the roundabout

Some people are easily confused. They do not know how to use turn signals. We would not be talking about this if years ago Jackson would have done the right thing by allowing the bypass by Jackson. Everybody would be happy.

Limbaughism

John Piepho's May 17 letter to the editor was a lucid dissection of (David) Limbaughism that was so spot on it deserves to take a prominent place in a future book outlining the reasons for the demise of the right-wing extremist of the Republican Party.

Wages letter

A recent letter on wages used cherry-picked data to try and make a point. The data was presented in a manner that made its conclusion a lie. Real wages rose after the end of World War II when the U.S. was the only major manufacturing power in the world. During that time wages rose 150 percent. That ended in the late '60s, and real wages started to drop. They lost over 40 percent of the gains before Reagan's policies took hold and stopped the plunge. If you are going to present data, do so in an honest manner.

Approval ratings

President Obama's approval rating in the latest Gallup poll? 52 percent. George W. Bush's at the same time in his second term? 28 percent.

Work ethic

Your editorial paean to the work ethic was so exhilarating it almost inspired me to return to the workplace, but I fought off the feeling.
