Golden Eagles
I DON'T live in Cape Girardeau, but does the college not have a marching band called the Golden Eagles? Wouldn't that be a good name for a mascot?
Not all bad apples
I'M CALLING regarding the comments about the dope dealers and the trash who live on Tracy Street. I agree 100 percent. However, there are two or three people who live in these apartments who have complained to the landlord. We don't like to be included. One bad apple doesn't always make the whole barrel rotten. We wish the landlord would get the bad people out. The police have not done all they could do. We have called repeatedly and reported problems, and nobody comes.
Conflict of interest
IN REGARDS to the tort reform related to physicians and their medical malpractice insurance premiums: I agree that the bill vetoed by the governor probably needs to be adjusted somewhat. But I think when lawyers say this is not a good bill, we need to consider this a conflict of interest. If they cannot file a malpractice case and win it, then they're not going to have as much money in their own pocket.
Law takes bad turn
I USED to think that if I obeyed the law I wouldn't have to worry about being stopped by a police officer. I was driving along and the light was yellow. I was halfway through the intersection, and a police officer in hiding came out on this motorcycle, pulled me over and said I went through a red light. I said the light was yellow. He asked what the yellow light meant? I said it's a warning signal. So I went to court like a good citizen and pleaded not guilty. The police officer changed his story in court and said I went through a red light. I was found guilty. The police officer is not always right.
Going too far
THE SOUTHEAST Missourian's recent editorial concerning schools selling naming rights to large corporations gives me a very deep sense of apprehension. I can't help but think that by fall, I'll be having to go Houck Westfield Shopping Center stadium to cheer on the Southeast Missouri State University Horizon Screen Printers.
Kindness appreciated
IF I may, I'd like to give a special thank you to a woman that helped me. She's in charge of the Millersville Water District, and she helped a total stranger. She drove me around in her car all afternoon. I was looking for a particular piece of property. She was so sweet to a total stranger. I thought I'd get the opportunity to thank her again. She wouldn't accept any gas money. I want to thank her for her kindness that afternoon.
