Less regulation?

Give me a break. JP Morgan has just lost $2 billion on mistakes its upper-echelon employees don't understand and the firm and its Wall Street Republican buddies think the answers to their woes is less regulation by the government?

City trash

Street sweepers don't run often enough. When the fancy new trash truck comes by, there is a swirl of trash flying from it into the streets. Littering fines should be increased and enforced. I doubt there have been many tickets given for littering in the past year. The city is very trashy.

Silly debate

What silly things that we are wondering about and voting for, a slogan to be changed from the Show Me State to the Great River State. There is evil in this world; there are druggies; there are people who are killing; they are living right next to you. Why don't you take care of the people instead of worrying about these ridiculous things?

Confine pets

I would just like to remind all the pet owners, especially cat owners, to keep your cat confined, please. This is the time for baby rabbits, squirrels and birds, and they love to hunt those animals. If you value your pets, please keep them confined to your property.

Feeding deer?

Since our city council has passed the ordinance about feeding deer, will I get fined when I plant a good garden and the deer come in and eat all my vegetables? Is that called feeding deer?

Reduce water bills

Since the city has such a great windfall of money, instead of building an amphitheater or dog walk, why not use the money to fund a sewer plant and reduce our water bills? That would affect everybody, not just the few people that would use the dog walk or amphitheater. It would benefit every person in Cape Girardeau who paid taxes.

Jason Crowell

This newspaper jumped all over state Sen. Jason Crowell with both feet. I am not sure if it was completely deserved, but I hope that Jason Crowell is doing a good job in Jefferson City. But it is time to grow up and get along with the neighbors.

No morals

What is happening to our country? Families are being attacked. Gays getting married. Couples having babies and not getting married so taxpayers pay for the babies. There is a saying that says, so goes the family that is the way the country goes. That is the reason our country is in the shape it is in. There are no moral values anymore.

Gay marriage

I'd like to know why these major networks show where half the people agree with gay marriages, but then when it is taken to the vote of the people, it is taken down by a landslide.
