I was just thinking about all those extreme coupon people out there. I call them hoarders. Now would be a good time for them to reach into their storage bins and closets and pull out a lot of things that they've put away and share it with those in need, the people in the flood plains, and the people who have had tornadoes rip through their homes.
NO left turns. Are you kidding me? Please, if you are so worried about a 10 minute wait behind someone making a left turn, go some other route yourself or leave 10 minutes sooner. Kingshighway is not that hard to get out on.
QUESTION No. 1: How much did it cost the taxpayers to put that temporary levee in at Dutchtown again? Question No. 2: What happened to Dutchtown getting its permanent levee?
I don't agree with Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder often, but this time I do. I agree we should not change the state's term limits on the lawmakers. Keep them like they are. But we need to take it one step further, especially in Cape Girardeau County. That is to limit all of the elected county officials, including the county commissioners, to an eight-year term. No more, no less, unless they're voted out. And this might also reduce these pay raises they keep giving themselves.
I certainly hope Gov. Jay Nixon signs the bill requiring drug testing to receive welfare payments. It should be more strict, but this is a start. These people need an incentive and motivation to help themselves clean up their act, not only for themselves but for their children.
I would like to know where all those great stars of the entertainment industry are who hold telethons and fundraisers for victims in every place in the world now that we have massive floods and tornadoes in the U.S. I haven't heard of anyone jumping on the bandwagon to aid these victims who have lost everything they own, including the families of the more than 300 people killed.
HAS anybody in Cape looked at their latest water bill? I see we have two new fees. We have a state primacy fee and state sewer fee. What on earth is a state primacy fee?
