I am a veteran and 88 years old. This week at a local grocery store, a young lady helped me load my groceries into my truck even though I was physically able to do this chore. She was very helpful and gave me a hug also -- and thanked me for my service. Then on Sunday while eating lunch at a local restaurant, a young mother with two small children noticed my U.S. Army hat and took time to bring her children over to my booth to thank me for my service to our country. They shook my hand and were super nice. These are special people and I thank them for their acts of kindness.
Michelle Obama ran off the "high road" and took the fork to the "low road" when she compared the Trump presidency to "like living with a divorced dad." Divorces are not always the fault of the father, Mrs. Obama. Women have their faults, too! You're just upset that Trump has accomplished more in two years than your husband did in eight years. Trump 2020!
I have lived through the following: The Great Depression, World War II, the Korean conflict, served in the Vietnam War, 9/11, Desert Storm. And how many mini wars and conflicts in between? I never expected to live to see a liberal media and a Democratic Party more interested in the welfare of those entering our country illegally than in the welfare of our own citizens.
Cape Girardeau seems to be focusing on businesses as the source of problems in south Cape. Those problems are the result of a handful of individuals and gangs in the area. Instead of focusing on the business, the city needs to focus on removing those groups.
It is time for Republicans in the House and Senate to ignore all the hearings, boycott them and begin legislating. The bluster and outrage you project has no effect on Democrats but your absence in their kangaroo hearings will speak volumes. Let them waste their constituents' time, you legislate. Whether the bills you present pass or not makes no difference; the fact you are trying to do what we sent you to Washington for will be evident. Pass doable immigration laws, comprehensive, affordable healthcare for Americans and not illegals, and for heaven's sake do something about abortion.
I keep hearing on the news about the student loan crisis and how the federal government should offer a bailout. I repaid my student loans. If you borrowed the money you should repay it. It's that simple.
United States should do more business with Taiwan's government instead of China's. The people of Taiwan are loyal to the United States. I was there in Kaohsiung and Taipei. Give them our trade and send China sailing.
With regard to the upcoming Center Junction project, is the "diverging diamond interchange" still a part of the overall plan? I hope so. The crossover to get to Old Cape Road East is awkward and dangerous.
