Since I think she has done more than any other member of Cape�s city council to lead the community in a positive direction, my hat is off to city Councilwoman Shelley Moore.
Rust opinion
I share Jon Rust�s �free range� as opposed to �helicoptering� philosophy of child rearing. The family justifiably got off the hook when someone called the police, erroneously expecting a case of child neglect. Yet the lingering question in my mind is whether or not the outcome would have been different if the Rusts were members of the working class poor and people of color.
Boring city?
It is true the prestigious publication Business Insider determined Cape Girardeau is the most boring community in Missouri. However, to be fair, that determination was made before we voted to improve our stormwater drainage system.

No bells
I was excited but reverent as I awaited for church and other bells to ring throughout Cape at the precise time Martin Luther King was assassinated 50 years ago. It was supposed to occur in cities across America as a tribute to the great civil rights leader. The eerie silence in Cape spoke volumes.
Car control
Why is it that every time there is a shooting, the liberals never mention the shooter? Only the gun. I guess we should start taking away cars and alcohol for people killed by drunk drivers.
Farmers
I wonder how all of the Southeast Missouri soybean farmers who were gung ho for Trump are feeling about him now? Maybe Congressman Smith can explain.
