Intrusive project

THESE bike trails are an intrusive, overreaching attempt to serve the few at the inconvenience of many. That this is even being considered is an insult to all who live on the streets affected. This is being pushed by a small group of people who believe they come first.

Drive-thrus

BANNING a drive-thru for fast food? That is always going to be here. Americans love it. Now if anything would be banned, it should be drive-thrus at gas stations.

Libya war

THE reason we're in Libya is because people were going missing and ending up in the morgue. There should be a right to free expression. Apparently a lot of countries were willing to join in on that cause. Secondly, if you don't know why we're in these wars, blame Bush. It started with Iraq.

Speeding problem

I read a recent Speak Out comment about Lexington Avenue. I agree, it's terrible in certain sections, but the person said they wanted it like Mount Auburn. Does that mean they want to convert Lexington Avenue into a race track? People who drive Mount Auburn have no concept of what the speed limit is, and they could care less.

Smoking sin

IF you're a Christian and smoke, you should be ashamed of yourself. God gave you food and knowledge to care for your body. To do harmful things to our body could be considered a sin. The time and money you will spend on cigarettes you can spend on Jesus.

Rx costs

SINCE I now have to have a prescription for my allergy medicine with the decongestant pseudoephedrine, I have to pay $4 to $5 per pill instead of the $1.60 I was paying for over-the-counter pills without a doctor's appointment. Who is this helping?

Misinformation

ONE of the biggest problems we have today is the lack of any real investigative journalists. From the news "performers" who give opinions of so-called experts (i.e. shills of special interests) to the constant lies and distortions of Fox News, we are bombarded with lobbyist-driven misinformation on a daily basis. No wonder Americans are so confused.

Waste of money

CAPE Girardeau does not need bike lanes on most of the major streets just because a bicycle club thinks it is a good thing. It's a waste of money to make most of the city angry. How many people will be denied the use of the street for parking for how many bike riders?
