I and many in my family will miss the air show. I'm sure Cape Girardeau will miss the $80,000 it brought in last year. If whoever previously organized the event wasn't able to do so, why didn't they get someone else to manage it? I guess Cape Girardeau will just have to raise taxes again.
THIS city wants to put in a dog park. Of all the places we need money -- the police department, the fire department, the streets and the sewer system. Now you want to put in a dog park and spend $40,000 to $50,000? This is crazy.
I would like someone to explain to me why the city employees have to run around in brand-new SUVs. I just saw two of them stopping and hanging out at a convenience store. Why is that they need an SUV, an expensive gas-guzzling vehicle to run around and do city business? Someone in the city, please start using the tax dollars wisely.
WHAT a great idea for the cross tower at Good Shepherd Church. We were speculating on what it was going to be and were very pleased to find out what it is. Just in time for Easter. What a great eternal investment for those who trust in the truth of the cross.
I noticed a lot being made about Elizabeth Taylor, how she was in the AIDS fight. I can't cure AIDS, which I don't think they'll ever be able to cure, but I can help you prevent it. Don't sleep around, don't have sex with anyone but the person you're married to and don't take intravenous drugs and share the needle.
IF we can put up these huge steel towers for cellphone reception, then why can't we put up huge wind towers for electricity? That would be better than using cancer-causing nuclear energy. Not only that, there's no place to put the nuclear waste. I can live without a cellphone, but I need electricity to pump my water out of the ground.
A lot of people think the president just constantly is making mistakes. Of course, $4 trillion, that went to all of his friends and the people that supported him. But did you ever think that maybe he's doing this stuff on purpose to make America look weak?
I don't think anyone cares whether a Speak Out contributor is going to vote for President Obama or not, especially if we're talking about Guantanamo Bay. It turned out people did not want these people in their cities to be tried because the risk is too great. As long as we're fighting in Afghanistan, we're not going to be releasing these people.
DO the folks who live on Perryville Road and Cape Rock Drive realize that their home values will plummet if a bike trail goes through on their street? They won't be allowed to have any extra company for any event or celebration because there would be no extra parking for their guests. I would not even consider living in that area. Put the bike trails in the parks we have, but please don't impose on the homeowners.
This number grading system was dumped on parents and teachers and sneakily slipped into summer report cards. When schools want a bond issue passed for a new building, they ask for parent input at meetings. Why were there no discussions and parent meetings for something as important as our children's educational future?
