Have we really reached the point where a large number of Americans are willing to ignore a blatant assault on our democracy by a Russian dictator? Has partisan hatred reached the point where party comes before patriotism? What fool's we have become. Russian meddling in our election and the willingness of many to ignore it threatens all the founding fathers stood for.
Adrienne Ross gave her opinion last week that mandating people to buy health insurance is wrong. However mandating hospitals to care for these people has consequences to the people who do buy insurance and who do pay directly for their health care. People make choices every day and a segment of the population would rather buy smartphones and $70 video games than pay for their kids' lunches and health care. This administration and congress seems willing to let the system die a lingering death, so why don't they just eliminate mandates for hospitals and ambulance services? If you can't refuse to take personal responsibility then don't expect the rest of society to pay for it when you suddenly need it. No easy answers if this Republican-owned government isn't going to move toward single payer, tort reform and bargaining for medicine costs.
It's getting hard to trust the Republicans to investigate Trump. Has Congress sold us out to Russia too? Sure is looking that way. With all the things Trump is doing and all his family involved, sure looks like Russia has taken us over. They think he does no wrong. He hasn't done anything right yet.
I want to confirm the Speak Out comments regarding Bloomfield Road. Never have I seen a road project with more disregard for daily use, safety, and the damage to our vehicles. I've been told by people working on the project, they are already behind schedule and we can expect this to last well into early 2018. That's simply not acceptable. The city should put more resources on the project to expedite completion and get this behind us sooner rather than later. With better weather and more daylight ahead of us, why couldn't additional crews put in more hours and more days a week to get this completed?
