I am wondering why so few people in this town want to have this bike trail? So many people will be inconvenienced by no longer being able to park in front of their homes. We park in front of our home three to four times a year for the holidays and will no longer have anywhere for our guests to park. It seems that this bike trail is wanted by a few individuals, with no regard for others' input. Let the people have a say.
TO the person who made the comment on VA health care, you can file paperwork until you are blue in the face and still get rejected. I fought the VA for my father's benefits for several years and he finally got what he deserved. He passed away a couple years after that and never got to enjoy them.
IN response to the anti-gun Speak Out comment, there are already laws on the books to keep guns out of the hands of felons. Passing more laws won't change anything. We must enforce the laws we have on the books now.
THE tea party is for the silent majority that's been overtaxed, under represented, ignored by our government and just plain disrespected. When we complain it's seen as a revolt or subversion, not the peaceful right to change what is not right with our country. The far left and far right have no right to speak for us. "Don't tread on me" means more now than ever.
I think the worst stop sign/light in Cape Girardeau is at Bertling Street and West End Boulevard.
I am a local pastor in Scott City. The pastors that I have talked to agree that the district's dress code is just more control and is taking us one step closer to a socialistic agenda. I attended the Scott City School District for grades one through 12 and graduated there. Thank God I didn't have this kind of a dress code.
THE proposed bike lanes are for the very few. It will affect several major streets in the city just so some can ride their bikes. Where was the community input before the grant was written? Who was on the committee?
HOW can people ride bikes in the city streets that they want to put the bike trail on? There are too many potholes in the streets. How about fixing some of the city streets with the money? What a waste of money.
