I looked out in my backyard recently and noticed a power line was hanging down lower next to the phone and cable TV lines. I called Ameren, and within the hour the repairman was here and found and fixed the problem, even though I told them we had not lost our power. If it would have been the telephone line, we would be without a phone for at least 24 hours, as well as Internet. A big thank you to Ameren for the outstanding service.
IF we really want to be a Christian nation, shouldn't we make sure all the people here are fed, clothed and sheltered before we even consider bombing other countries?
OBAMA should take a play out of the Bush/Cheney playbook and rename the income tax to the patriot tax. We would have Fox News and the Limbaughs praising it and making arguments that it should be raised much higher.
I interpret the ongoing storms as a sign from God to area administrators to (for the remainder of the year) shut down schools.
YOUR Easter Sunday story attempting to lead readers to conclude that county officials are overpaid masks the fact that all members of the middle and working class are underpaid and have been for decades. The story was a cynical attempt to turn members of the middle and working class against one another for the benefit of the conservative superrich.
MISSOURI'S prescription drug program may end. Yes, the Missouri Legislature -- which is full of Republicans -- will let this plan expire, as they only want to help the rich and want to do nothing for the elderly or poor people. They are only after more contributions for their campaigns so they can keep their high paying jobs and special benefits.
CONSERVATIVE columnist Charles Krauthammer recently wrote that "Donald Trump ... is not a candidate, he's a spectacle." Since Trump is at the top of the polls for presidential choice among Republicans, that should give you some insight as to the field of GOP aspirants.
THE Speak Out comment about dandelions in Friday's paper makes me laugh. With all the recession going on and the people out of work, somebody has to worry about their neighbor's dandelions. We need more thought about our recession than we do about dandelions.
